This is an interesting perspective and one I had not previously considered. However. As a voter and citizen I also have a vested interest in what my elected officials are doing. On the whole, I feel hung out to dry because senior government officials who I trusted to respect the constitution continue to not back me up when I say, "WFT??"

We are correct to blame the government. It's the job of businesses to get away with as much as possible. It's the government's job to keep them in check. If they aren't doing their job we have a system in place to peacefully show them the door.

This gives us a lot of insight into the desires of Microsoft, if they had their druthers. Given half the chance they'll hold their customers down and ass-fuck them. This move made SONY look like GOOD GUYS. Decide with your dollars wisely.

This is fighting a battle that doesn't need to be fought. Just get the hardware you want regardless of the OS that's pre-installed.

- You don't save significant money buying an "Ubuntu" laptop or whatever, but you severely limit your choices.
- Any pre-installed Windows OS will be full of crapware that you'll want to get rid of with a clean install anyway.
- It will be easier to resell later with the latest OS on it, if you ever want to sell it.

By making one questionable move after another we begin to believe Ubuntu's business model has failed. Now they seem to be grasping at straws. They're completely turning their back on the open software that got them here. It doesn't bode well for Linux at all.

Yeah, look how well that worked for Zune. They tried this already, why throw good money after bad? The only useful consumer brand they own is X-Box, and nobody over 24 is going to carry an "X-Phone."

They need to integrate it with Exchange, AD and Communicator. Then it'll be a useful device for corporate customers. That's their only hope, no end-user consumer wants one no matter how nice they make them.
