Because they might have? There are over 11 million Mormons. You can't expect all of them to act the same. Every group, not just the religious, is going to have its crazy people.

I was baptized a Mormon when I was 13 but I'm now agnostic. I still have a bunch of friends that I met through my church. I still talk and hang out with them on a regular basis. I haven't gone to church in over 6 years now.

Cingular bought AT&T Wireless and then AT&T bought Cingular. It is in fact AT&T. Other than that minor correction your post has a lot of merit.

I have Sprint for my mobile phone provider and I have had a lot of good experiences with them. I know for a while they had it where if you went over your minutes it would just bump you up into the next plan. You could choose to pay the overage if you wanted to but it was a lot cheaper just to pay the difference for the higher plan.

PS - Alltel recently got purchased by Verizon. My condolences.

CCP's recent support for EVE Online in Linux is now set to be discontinued this March. Released last November along with the Mac OS X client, it has failed to share the expected continual growth as seen with Mac client.

You have to read it in context with the first sentence. The sentence says that CCP is discontinuing support for the Linux client because it isn't doing as well as the Mac client. The sentence doesn't say they will be discontinuing the Mac client.

Maybe so, but here's a hypothetical situation to consider. A comet is crashing towards the area you live in. Scientists have a raging debate as to whether or not it will completely disintegrate before hitting your house. Do you stay in your house till they reach a "consensus" or get the hell out of there?

Whether global warming is true or not really doesn't matter much. We still need to take precautions to prevent pollution and switch to cleaner energy sources. It will benefit our own health and safety as well as be a matter of prudence.

So what you are saying is we should leave Earth?

On a more serious note though, we shouldn't be mucking with the Earth's climate until we understand what we are actually doing. Now do I agree we should switch to cleaner energy sources? Yes I do but not for the sake of Global Warming. We should do it so the air we breath is cleaner, whether or not the Earth's climate is changing is completely irrelevant.

I agree with you and I was a little ambiguous in my statement. I meant during the day you would have your set upload limit but then during the non peak hours you would have increased upload bandwidth. Right now I have no incentive to try and upload during non peak hours since my bandwidth never changes. It's similar to how cell phone companies give you free nights and weekends.

Just because you can't take advantage of it doesn't mean that I can't. This is also another situation that would help if the cable companies worked with their customers. If they set up a standard that allowed programs like Smoothwall or Tomato to find out the current upload bandwidth it could dynamically change the upload bandwidth. I imagine a good stop gap though would be to ping a server and measure the response time like almost every bit torrent client does for auto speed.

If bandwidth is available, why the arbitrary cap? Shouldn't it be more like you lose priority after hitting a certain level?

Exactly. I have no problem with caps or even quality of service. If the ISPs actually worked with their customers then a lot of these problems they are having could go away. I wouldn't have any problems with my bit torrent packets having lower priority than someone's VOIP packets. One is far more sensitive to latency than the other. I also wouldn't mind them decreasing my uploading bandwidth during peak hours and giving me increased uploading bandwidth during non peak hours.

No one is forcing you to buy a new version. From the quotes you showed of the article it seems like the writer is just making the argument that it's no longer cost effective to try and write the most compact and efficient code as possible.

I could be wrong because I'm just going from memory but doesn't Excel 2000 do far more than Excel 5.0?

I put Windows 7 Beta on my 5 year old laptop. It runs better than XP did. My laptop only has 512 MB of RAM and an Athlon 64 3000+. It boots using only 211 MB of RAM. The only problems I ran into was finding graphics drivers for my GeForce Go 440 graphics card. To be honest though that is more nvidia's fault since they no longer support the card. I downloaded some old XP drivers and it's working fine. Everything else was recognized out of the box.
