This is mostly true. Spent fuel pools can be pretty hot near new and old fuel. Also, the resin in demineralizers can be very raidioactive.

Most metals become brittle when irradiated.

Someone will be along with more details then I can recall offhand.

I would just design the plant to run with brittle metals from day one. Nothing that can't be solved with thicker walls (in many cases anyhow).

Modern reactors use a neutron shield that goes with the fuel basket. It can be replaced and greatly decreases vessel embrittlement by becoming the sacrificial element to first absorb/slow the errant neutrons.

The problem is with shutdown and startup. This needs to be done with control as things become harder and have less flex.

News Flash: Those generations paid into the fund huge sums of money, many of whom like my grandparents didn't even live long enough to collect a single penny.

It maybe interesting for you to know that most people they collect well beyond what they pay in. After 8-10 years people collect everything they've paid in. This is ONLY a count of retires, not including slugs who collect because they have phantom back pain or are "disabled" by an alcohol problem.

The argument isn't "right wing" as so much as facts. Please use facts.

This makes me laugh. I'm sure the INTEL shareholders sure wish NVIDIA and VIA were making chipsets now, but since INTEL is the ONLY chipset maker for their CPUs they can't sell any CPUs right now. Intel is a CPU company that can't sell CPUs.

Hey INTEL, I went to a business school.... you now know about the risks of vertical integration. If you control all of your requirements and channels you better do a damn good job or you can hang yourself. This is a wonderful cautionary tale for all businesses.

Sounds like a systemic issue. If she was so frail that a 30 pound 4 year old could kill her she should of been in a facility. The kids shouldn't of been in a public place where they were a nuisance and a danger to others. That should probably be a fine of 20$. If you want to live in a place without the proper areas to ride bikes your kids don't get to ride bikes.
