I agree. I drive a car that's going to be 20 years old next year and it still runs good. Parts aren't at the point where it's getting impossible to find, but it will be someday. Places like autozone and advance seem to stock the third party stuff which is okay, but usually they're made to shitty specs. You kind of get what you pay for I guess.

FCC Commissioner Leaves To Become Lobbyist 309

An anonymous reader writes "Meredith Attwell Baker, one of the FCC Commissioners, is leaving the FCC to become a lobbyist for Comcast-NBC, just four months after approving their merger deal. She refused to put any significant conditions on the merger, saying that the deal would 'bring exciting benefits to consumers that outweigh potential harms.' Comcast has released an official statement saying that, 'Meredith's executive branch and business experience along with her exceptional relationships in Washington bring Comcast and NBCUniversal the perfect combination of skills.'"

3D gaming in the 90's was fun. I still play my Virtual Boy on a lazy afternoon and sometimes the Sega Master System with 3D Glasses as well. As much heat as the virtual boy got (and admittedly only have 3 or 4 titles worth revisiting) after I've been playing for about 10 minutes and my eyes learn to refocus properly the games become extremely enjoyable. I've never played first person shooters with 3D shutter glasses, but I'm sure someone has found a way to build a circuit out of SMS 3D Glasses and adapt it to the computer.

I have nothing to add but to say that you are all sorts of awesome in my book. My story is similar: sharp cookie, dropped out of high school to pursue women then eventually programming (aha, there was my mistake), blah blah, now I'm in my mid-30s finishing a math degree. Couldn't be happier. People like you inspire people like me.
