You know, someone modding you down doesn't mean they are fan boy. They could be modding you down because your not really adding anything. In fact your being about as rational and helpful as a fan boy. Any device takes some time to learn, especially if you are coming from another platform. If you take a long time user of any major platform and move them to a different one they will have problems initially. That isn't a good way to judge it.

My personal experience with the usability of Android phones has been good. An informal survey of people I know shows the same. No complaints from anyone. I've also found that giving an Android phone to someone who hasn't used one before has similar results to giving an iPhone to someone who hasn't used one. They can do simple things but get a bit lost.

So yes, please do mod him down fanboys.

Sadly most of these problems are caused by the carrier, not Android itself. Because of this they are likely to occur on any phone. It's amazing there haven't been more such problems on the iPhone, but I guess that is a result of its locked down nature. Apple has fought tooth and nail to prevent anyone from putting anything on their phones. At least they finally gave in and let us have apps. Well some apps anyway, those that they approve...

It wasn't a facebook page earlier. I think their server overloaded due to slashdotting and so they forwarded it to a facebook page. Seems like a reasonable way to keep the message up even if the server can't handle the sudden load.

Your right, the low population density and great distances in Canada do often make it more expensive and difficult to provide care and coverage for services such as healthcare. Still, the system has worked, except where privatization has eroded it.

A project like this, if it took off, could be quite good for expanding the usage of the Java language. It might not be a success or a big success, but calling it a blue-sky project seems a bit unfair. Unless of course value is only defined by the next quarter.
