Submission + - Do resume upgrades work? (careerbuilder.com)

nopainogain writes: I'm in IT operations with cisco and hints of security and linux and I get moderate hits on my resumes on the main job sites at a rate of about 3 a week. Most of the sites now offer paid-upgrading on a tiered platform like Gold service, Platinum service etc. I paid for one of these upgrades a couple months back when I started my current position. It didn't seem to generate any hits or increase in existing benchmarks. I know that when you pay for these upgrades, they (supposedly) typically move your resume headline to the top (or further up) search results used by employers but does this make a difference when it comes down to getting noticed to get hired?
