Yesterday Orange confirmed it will stock the handset as O2's exclusive two-year deal with Apple to offer the iPhone has expired. The announcement follows months of speculation as to whether other UK networks would be able stock the handset."

An anonymous reader writes: Finnish politician Jussi Halla-aho was today sentenced to fines after posting blasphemous comments on his blog. A more extensive summary is available, but in short he used Islam's child brides as an extreme example of offensive free speech. Mr. Halla-aho is widely condemned as a racist, because he believes many refugees are bringing their dangerous traditions with them rather than legitimately freeing oppression. While searching for more information, I also found this disturbing article about multiculturalism in Finland.

NormalVisual writes: A copyright dispute between Latin recording artist Alejandro Fernández and Sony Music has resulted in more than 6,000 CDs being seized from Sony's Mexico City office by the Mexican police, along with master tapes and cover art. Fernández's contract with Sony was for seven albums, and the label had compiled and was attempting to market and sell an eighth album, created from previously unreleased tracks. The seizure comes two weeks after Sony ignored a cease and desist letter from Fernández's attornies. Sony of course maintains it has done nothing wrong.

Unless you crashed the plane in the Arctic Ocean of course in which case you're all screwed anyway (apart from the embryos but they have no frigging idea what's going on).

One thing that most never seem to mention, but for me was one of the biggest bonuses of the Eee, is that the charger is like a mobile phone charger.. The transformer part of it is in the plug itself, not another box with a load of heavy wires. It's a nice thin cable. The main prob with laptops for me in the past was the bulk of the charger once you wrapped the cable up around the transformer. It was hard to keep everything nice and compact. Not an issue with the tiny Eee PC and its small and LIGHT charger.

Unfortunately for those hoping for an August 27th release for Windows Home Server, it won't be happening: this "general availability date" was actually referring to tech support for system builders. Hopefully peeps won't have to wait too long for the box, as it's still on track for its original September / October launch schedule. Until then, why not check out the announcement post, along with our gallery of the software in action.
