You can get a buff body with a reasonable workout regimen in less than a year, and many elements of your "looks" can easily be fixed (better hair, wearing contacts, getting teeth fixed, dressing more stylishly).

If you have game, then your dick size doesn't matter, because history is rife with examples of men with questionable looks and stunning women.

Ultimately, having good social skills is much more important than any of those things in getting laid.

Goddammit I hate embargos...the only reason they exist is to hide flaws and problems from people who could get a refund. Ray, stop being the industry's bitch. You have a ton of readers, tell gadget makers to pound sand if they tell you that you can't release a review before it ships.

There needs to absolutely be a mechanism in place for a woman to:

  - safely be transported to a hospital in a fashion which maintains chain of evidence
  - be examined by a sympathetic, but impartial medical professional using a rape kit to collect evidence
  - make a formal statement, and if it includes an accusation, that to be duly sworn out in a reasonable fashion

There needs to be in place mechanisms for the hospital, police and other social structures to take the above seriously. If there aren't, that needs to change.

Why didn't the FBI say "this person is mentally ill", and simply get him mental health services? Oh, right. That doesn't get you commendations for "stopping a terrorist attack."

A Muslim cleric isn't a mental health counselor or psychologist. They're a religious leader.

I'm on the fence as to whether my next laptop will be a Macbook. I'm not up on messing with security certificates. It took me about 10 seconds to get from Anonymous Coward's tip to a blocked CNNIC certificate. I think that it's within the scope of regular users. My cousin just did it, and she runs a modeling agency and was trained in, well, modeling. Macs do have a pretty easy interface. Say what you will, but that allowed me to do my little thing and get back to wasting time on the internet instead of grading papers.

Yes, please, thank you.

Stackexchange managed to totally derail the Digital Fabrication area when they rebranded it as ``Maker'' something or other, and the term just annoys me.

Can we at least (re)define it as people who read _Make Magazine_?

Anyway, you may find the Shapeoko wiki of interest: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/

Yes, I read that too. I think that you are reading way too much into what is written there. It seems pretty clear to me that he is planning on casting his own ballot on the merits of the works nominated, but that he understands those that would vote against the sad puppy slate on the theory that intentionally disruptive behaviour should not be encouraged. Moreover, even if I granted your interpretation, that would be Scalzi pushing against a given slate, rather than pushing his own slate of nominees, which is what was claimed by ageoffri in the first post to which I replied.
