Comment Revolutionary ? (Score 1) 782

Wow, so it kills even more people? that's revolutionary! What about a really revolutionary weapon, that gets a banana inside a hungry person, all he just have to do is open his mouth "Fly over Ethiopia, "There's a guy that needs a banana." "Shooooooooooooom" the Stealth Banana Smart Fruit!" (Bill Hicks)

Submission + - KDE Vs Gnome in Development? (kidsil.net)

Asaf.Zamir writes: I started searching through small projects of Gnome (Tasque, Tomboy, Glipper)
and I was sad to see that a lot of them are less than active.
Now, as for comparison, I searched a couple of KDE projects and things are very different.

Klipper for instance, is a very active project in KDE.
Also, it seems that Gnome’s website is actually hiding the small projects,
it’s almost as if they are trying to kill them on purpose.

I think that small projects can die like flies in the open source world.
Especially because usually there’s one developer
so if he can’t contribute anymore, the software usually dies.

I think the most important thing is to open up easier contribution systems
right from the Gnome website, making it easier to give and get feedback.

All these issues seem relatively known to the public, but for some reason are not addressed.
I don’t want Gnome Apps to lose community, but they might if this continues.

Comment If it is a complete school environment (Score 1) 428

From personal experience, the thing that I felt really lacking is the social aspect of studying with people. Basically, you are on your own, but it's not just a course or something like that. It's your entire day passing by without contacting fellow students and studying together. I found it very difficult, perhaps some people won't.

Court Takes Away Some of the Public Domain 431

An anonymous reader writes "In yet another bad ruling concerning copyright, a federal appeals court has overturned a lower court ruling, and said that it's okay for Congress retroactively to remove works from the public domain, even if publishers are already making use of those public-domain works. The lower court had said this was a First Amendment violation, but the appeals court said that if Congress felt taking away from the public domain was in its best interests, then there was no First Amendment violation at all. The ruling effectively says that Congress can violate the First Amendment, so long as it feels it has heard from enough people (in this case, RIAA and MPAA execs) to convince it that it needs to do what it has done." TechDirt notes that the case will almost certainly be appealed.

The only chance I would use Google Wave is if there was a way to connect it to Facebook and Twitter. Otherwise I'll be creating waves by myself. And a one man's wave always looks ridiculous.
