Comment Great, any benefits to adding my copy to Steam? (Score 1) 354

I didn't want to buy Steam because I didn't want to support EA in their DRM habits. However, I had no problem installing it when it was given to me for my birthday. Is it possible to associate my serial with the digital copy that EA will provide with Steam? Right now, I just have a shortcut in the My Games tab. Would there be any benefit or downfall in doing so?

In any event, I don't care if OpenDNS knows I made a lookup request for any of the sites I visit. If I really want to cover my tracks, I would not use it. However that said, I would never, ever, recommend this service for an enterprise.

Submission + - Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Announced

Headcase88 writes: Sega and Nintendo are collaborating to make a Wii and DS game for the upcoming 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. The main characters from both franchises will be featured, including Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi, and Tails. Sega of America president Simon Jeffery claims that the game is being built predominately by Sega's sports team (but not AM2 studio), and contends that "Miyamoto-san himself is actually very closely involved". Could this reverse the trend of mediocore Olympics games?

Torvalds "Pretty Pleased" With Latest GPLv3 295

Novus Ordo Seclorum writes "According to CNet, Linus Torvalds is 'pretty pleased' with the current GPL v3 draft. He said, 'Unlike the earlier drafts, it at least seems to not sully the good name of the GPL any more.' After his earlier criticism, some had questioned whether such controversies would lead to rifts in the community, especially if the kernel ended up under a different license than the GNU tools. But with the latest revisions, Linus will entertain moving the kernel over to the GPL v3."
