We condidered it last year, for about 800 machines. We didn't go with it because it needed multiple servers, and some of those had to be 32 bit servers. The SQL I believe it was, not totally sure but I think it only ran on a 32 bit sql server, which we don't have any of. Went with Kaspersky, been working great.

I'm not sure you understood what I meant. If Rogers is offering a streaming video service through their internet service, they have to count that towards your data cap just as they would for netflix. They can't give their own service an unfair and artificial advantage like that. They certainly would love to, and thats what the whole net neutrality debate is about. This came up when Bell first started throttling customers. One of the reasons the CRTC ruled with Bell initially was because they also throttled customers using Bell's own services.

Team Viewer 5 does this. You send the person a link, or verbally tell them the URL over the phone. It downloads an EXE file, they run it. The program gives them some numbers they read off to you, and you connect using those numbers. Done! I use it a lot for helping friends/family.

A few years back on April Fools day I sent around an e-mail staying passwords would now be expiring weekly (instead of quarterly), your password had to be 24 characters long, and we'd all have to use swipe cards to open any doors in the building. I got a bunch of horrified responses, but mostly people caught on. Flash forward 2 years. We merged our Active Directory domain with out head office, and the password requirements shot up (not as much as I said in my e-mail, but more then users were used to). Also we all got ID/swipe cards, although as of yet we don't use them for anything other then looking pretty.

Rogers has already announced everyone with one of these handsets will be getting one month of free data service. However, I don't think it's right Rogers has cutoff our data in order to force us to update. I have a rooted magic running a 1.6 rom which is immune to this 911 problem. They want me to reflash back to their 1.5rom, which co-incidentally they loaded a new SPL into that is currently unbreakable, so we can't even flash back to another rom after. Brief history: -Rogers announces there is a critical problem with 911 on dream and magic phones. The issue is related to GPS trying to send your location when you call 911. -Rogers advises customers to disable GPS until they issue a fix. -Rogers releases a new ROM that fixes the issue, they say if you don't update to it within a day or so, your internet access will be cut off (this also allows 911 calls to go through since it can't try to transmit your location)

Ireland's Blasphemy Law Goes Into Effect 845

stereoroid writes "As of January 1, it is a crime in Ireland to commit Blasphemy. The law was changed in July 2009 to fill a gap in the Irish Constitution, which states that it is a crime but does not define what it is, an omission highlighted in a Supreme Court decision in 1999. To mark the occasion, Atheist Ireland published a list of 25 blasphemous quotations on the blasphemy.ie website, from such controversial figures as Bjork, Frank Zappa, Richard Dawkins, Randy Newman, and Pope Benedict XVI. (The last-mentioned was quoting a 14th Century Byzantine Emperor, but that's no excuse.)"

First off, I like alternatives as much as the other guy, I use firefox and opera as my main browsers. However, this complaint is just stupid. Are some of you so jaded that you can't stand the fact that you will be in IE for all of 30 seconds while you choose something else? You don't even have to manually go find your browser of choice, for the vast majority of us our choice is among the ones listed. This whole browser ballot thing is just an inconvenience for about 90% of the population out there.

It's VERY annoying now. I built a CarPC and had it working well with my old WinMo phone, making/receiving calls over the BT connection, address book, and the like would come up on the computer screen (8" touch screen). My new magic is awesome, but I now have nothing BT wise working beyond a basic headset.
