The problem is that we have many millions of people with NO useful skills. They are also mostly untrainable, or they wouldn't have ended up skillless in the first place. In the past, our economy had a place for these people. The future is likely to be different.
But instead of an enlightened, Roddenberry-esque future with time freed up by automation to pursue creativity, the politics of the evergreen American Puritans will ensure those without a job will still be perceived and treated like sub-human trash, harassed and killed by corporate Pinkertons called 'the cops'..
Nah, Dennis miller is a conservative former comedian. Back when he was still doing comedy, it was pretty centrist, with the social aspect leaning a bit to the left.
After 9/11 made him shit his pants, he started being conservative, and stopped being a comedian, opting to move his "big words and obscure references" style into punditry, where it works about as well as you might expect.
I suspect his reaction to 9/11 was just like Karl Rove's: he danced a jig when he realized it could make him rich.
Hopefully they will name it something beginning with "P" so mnemonics like "My Very Easy Method, Just Set Up Nine Planets" and so on all work again, or has anyone come up with a good one for the current 8 planet setup?
