Crime is a fundamental component of capitalist economics. You simply cannot police everyone who wants to cheat the system (criminals), and the cheaters have a significant impact on the system.

Think Boesky, Milken, and the crooks that foisted the real estate bubble on us. Those "capitalists" are just as criminal as your extortionist data thieves (insider trading, anyone), and are just as morally bankrupt. And if that isn't enough, consider the massive post WWII black market economies of Western Europe.

The crooks are lightly capitalized entrepreneurs. Of course they're also fucking extortionists who should be in prison for a long time (are probably protected by well paid off Eastern European officials).

The word "capital" is not a holy word preserved for sacred Conservative use.

Comment It's all archaic. (Score 2) 207

A "license" isn't a thing--it's a right or privilege to do or not do something. The State keeps a complete record of you and the scope of your driving license at the Department of Licensing. All they need is a fingerprint, or maybe even optical recognition of your face, and they can access that data from their patrol car.

An "app" as a "license" is just as archaic as a paper license today.
