Starcraft 2 To Be a Trilogy 253

The Starcraft 2 gameplay panel was an eventful one at Blizzcon today. The developers faced an obstacle when designing the game; the plans they had were just too massive to implement in a single game on anything approaching a reasonable timeline. Their solution was to divide the game up into three separate, stand-alone titles: Terran: Wings of Libery, Zerg: Heart of the Swarm, and Protoss: Legacy of the Void. Read on for further details.

Since everyone else just seems to tell you to get a console, I'd thought I'd actually list a few good PC games that are actually fun to play multiplayer on the same screen. Yes, they do exist. It's a great platform for the task, and if people started actually taking it seriously as such, we could probably see more games like this.

Worms Armageddon (already been mentioned a few times)

Heboris (great customizable two player Tetris game)

Super Mario War (very fun party game where the goal is to stomp on the other player's heads)

Stepmania (DDR style game that can take all sorts of songs)

Atomic Bomberman (8 player Bomberman on the PC)

You Don't Know Jack (fun and wacky non-trivia game, huge series of them)

Also, try looking at the list of simultaneous player games at Home of the Underdogs. There are a LOT of games. (http://www.the-underdogs.info/multi.php?sort=SHS)

New Mono 1.2 Now Supports WinForms 304

smbarbour writes "The Mono project (the open-source .NET compatibility library acquired by Novell when Ximian was purchased) has released version 1.2. They are now including support for WinForms. Ars Technica has a detailed rundown on the new release. The Mono project supports Visual Basic.NET as well, so developers that use VB.NET now have the possibility of directly porting applications to Linux." From the article: "Relatively high memory consumption and performance bottlenecks are commonly perceived as being amongst Mono's most significant weaknesses. Some critics frequently refer to various performance issues to support arguments against broader adoption of Mono technology in open source projects, most notably within the GNOME community. The performance improvements in Mono 1.2 could potentially address such criticisms, but it is likely that a lot more work will be required before the problems are completely resolved."
