This is not iPhone specific. FTFPatent:

"In accordance with the invention, a head-mounted display system and method of operation are provided in which the system can allow users to couple and decouple a portable electronic device with a head-mounted device. The portable electronic device may for example be physically and/or operatively coupled and decoupled with the head-mounted device. In some embodiments, the two devices may be considered temporarily integrated. "

It appears to patent any holder ("a head-mounted device") of any portable device worn on one's head that's providing a "display".

Comment Is it Asha OS? "Nokia" ejection ready? (Score 1) 150

It figures, not an android, and not a winphone...so back to Asha (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_Asha_platform)?

The phones with mini browsers (WAP) and email clients were available for many years...so this is not really a "smart" phone (as in a phone with 1000s of apps).

BTW, since "Nokia Lumia" is now "Microsoft Lumia", the low end phones are now "Nokia" do they gettinh ready to span "Nokia" out of M$?

Not assuming much...but for such wide-band channels (up to 2GHz) either a "dramatic" reorg of current radio spectrum is needed likely through "harmonisation" - normalization of standards or a new tech is needed to go into an unused spectrum (hence a push to ~60GHz).

I just wonder how a "dramatic overhaul and harmonisation" could look like in practice for 5G?

There seem to be no place to put even a single 500MHz channel anywhere below 6GHz, yet alone a 2GHz one?
Re-purpose current GSM and CDMA, etc. bands (take back the licenses and combine bands)?
Have single carrier become "MAC" provider and others use it (something akin to "ma-Bell & ATT&T" arrangement)?
Or what?

Comment 5G will make your phone 5x as heavy (Score 1) 216

...as for all the DSP the 5G would need (constant beam forming and 2GHz BW) you'd need one hell of a battery. The good thing is that @62GHz band you'd always have to be within few meters of a power plug as RF does not propagate far (water absorption).

"5G will be a dramatic overhaul and harmonisation of the radio spectrum," - really? How?

Ianal...but I also fear apis are creative works. The author can however donate them to public domain to stay consistent with APIs intent (promote interoperability). There may be APIs that are too obvious for copyright (as well as music that consist merely of banging on a C note?)

Can a copyrighted api use also be a subject to copyright?

Comment Re:You can copyright maps and manuals (Score 2) 146

There is definitely a value (art) in good API. However...then there should be a similar balance as in patent intentions (no, not US implementation of patents) ie keep balance of reward/incentive to innovate with general society benefit.

If API was found to be copyright-able everybody would stay away of everybody's else APIs unless given to public domain. This at least would make clear statement of what to do - do not use copyrighted APIs. However this defeats the purpose of APIs: cooperation.

I at least hope they would not apply it retroactively - this would be mayhem.

yes, that's enough of ram to run browser and few apps fairly well.....(win8x improved somewhat in this respect over Win7)
32GB of flash is another matter,,. leaves _maybe_ 10GB free for apps and media...that will fill up quickly with updates and will wear through

My experience with T100TA made me understand why MS is loosing mobile/tablet...took half day to recover from botched auto-update (had to reimage...a normal user would throw this back at Asus&MS). And it's a clanky M-UI compared to androids...
