Comment Re:I wonder when... (Score 2) 234

omg this. I remember back in late 90s being called up at minimum, once a week by each of them major telcoms asking if I want to switch (or with the one I was on, trying to upsell). I used to ask them, so if you are harassing me before I am even your customer, what are you going to do when I am actually your customer? I knew multiple people who disconnected all of their phone lines and switched to VOIP/Cell phones just to get away from the constant harassment. Seemed to go on for a year or so then abrubtly stopped, must have been some law that passed or they got fined out of their rear end.

yup same here, while my yearly salary isn't great I work 35 hour weeks, 4 weeks vacation, 10 sick days, multiple breaks per day, rarely ever any OT (and while we are salaried and don't get OT pay we instead get time in time and a half off). Hour-for-hour I probably make more than a lot of managers as well. Would I like to make double what I am making? Sure, but I would NOT be willing to put in double the work.

Ah, didn't realize teksavvy is canada wide now. While I originally found their customer service was excellent, I left because it was piss poor. They were growing too big too fast, and had wait times on the phone that were 30min+, and were constantly overselling neighborhoods. I am sure it is better now as they figured out the logistics. I have personally referred 8 people to teksavvy, and now have referred them to Start and they been happy each time with the change.
Start.ca I find amazing, everytime I have called them a human picked up the phone within 2 rings, zero hold times.. I am sure as they get bigger they will end up like teksavvy though with the crazy wait times, but for now it is like how teksavvy used to be when they were small.

And how exactly is this cheaper? This is already regular price for all other manufacturers.. But the article specifically states "Samsung to lower manufacturer costs with more usable die per wafer". I guess if it actually comes with a 10 year warranty that is worth a bit.

man I keep hearing stories like this and makes me depressed if I will ever need to find a new job... which unfortunately may be soon. Currently work 7-8 hour days and that includes 1 hour lunch and multiple breaks. Our boss has the philousophy I don't count hours as long as the job gets done. For a lot of people this may sound bad, but for us it works both ways. If work is a bit slow we can leave early, but if something is urgent we need to stay around to fix it. More often than not we leave 30-45 min early. Maybe once a month may have to stay hour late. I also get 4 weeks vacation, and minimum raise every year of double inflation (but often even more than that).
Unfortunately our boss doesn't have much of a succession plan and he is 70 years old... Multiple employees pitched buying company from him but he always turns it down
