Thanks for the response. Putting "Poll: " in front would be nice.

It also looks like traffic to the polls has dropped, which makes sense as they will fall of the front page in under 24 hours. Shoot get someone to sponsor the polls (I don't kid actually).

And yes, the community really wants no change. I can understand the urge to "improve" it, but I believe a lot of people find it a nice refuge from the "in your face" Web 2.0/3.0/"whatever internet version we are on" sites. I do.

Actually, apologizing makes sense in this case. It's not about being at fault (they are not), but common courtesy.

Early in our marriage, my wife taught me to say "I'm sorry" when those around me were hurt or bothered, to be a nice person. Prior to that I only said it if I was at fault.

So if someone spills soda on their shirt, then "I'm sorry". Same for Google, it is the decent thing to do.

Regarding photo identification, Google should have images of the Confederate flag show up in the category "Racist"...

Submission + - Google apologizes for labeling black people 'gorillas' (betanews.com)

Mark Wilson writes: Google has issued an apology after the automatic tagging feature of its Photos apps labeled a black couple as 'gorillas'. This is not the first time an algorithm has been found to have caused racial upset. Earlier in the year Flickr came under fire after its system tagged images of concentration camps as sports venues and black people as apes.

The company was criticized on social networks after a New York software developer questioned the efficacy of Google's algorithm. Accused of racism, Google said that it was "appalled" by what had happened, branding it as "100% not OK".

1,700+ have answered the poll, along with having to enter the "booth" and having it in the main story area.

DO NOT ANSWER MAIN LINE POLLS!

Seriously, imagine a poll with no answers. 1,700 is very low for a Slashdot poll, but that could be due to topical reasons.

Want to stop polls in the main story feed? Do not vote and do not comment.

This is my last poll comment, other than restating this....
