Submission + - Wikileaks loses DNS

An anonymous reader writes: EveryDNS has terminated Wikileaks' DNS access, citing multiple massive DDOS attacks that interfere with their other customers. Wikileaks is still available via IP address for the moment, although that could get hairy if they lose another hosting provider. You will remember that Amazon terminated Wikileaks' account after pressure from Congress, denying "post hoc, ergo proctor hoc" by pointing to their terms of service.

Submission + - wikileaks.org shut down

w00tz writes: wikileaks.org announced through a tweet that it is unreachable after EveryDNS.net terminated its account. EveryDNS's main reason seems to be that it is trying to avoid massive DDOS attacks.

Submission + - wikileaks.org domain inaccessible (everydns.com)

An anonymous reader writes: Wikileaks' domain name provider (EveryDNS.net) terminated the service, apparently due to the different DDOS attacks that are putting at risks their entire infrastructure. Wikileaks can still be accessed through http://46.59.1.2/

Sure there could be more than one. The problems start when exclusive deals are made. Let's say for example that Skype were to make some sort of deal with Apple that excluded Android phones from decent support or your local telco makes a deal with Microsoft and supports certain network features on Windows 7 phones only. Multiple smartphone platforms would be great if corporations didn't view it as an opportunity to be dicks.

A How-To Website For Australian Voters 158

Twisted64 writes "If you're interested in voting below the line in the upcoming federal election in Australia, but don't want to waste time in the booth individually ranking up to 76 candidates (for the unfortunates in New South Wales), then Cameron McCormack's website may have what you need. The website allows voters to set their preferences beforehand, dragging and dropping Stephen Conroy at the bottom of the barrel and thrusting the Sex Party into pole position (as an utterly random example). Once preferences are set, the site can generate a PDF to be printed and taken to the booth." (More, below.)

javawocky writes: The New Zealand Herald is reporting that...
"A New Zealand-based technology company has today unveiled a robotic exoskeleton which could change the lives of disabled people.

Rex, short for Robotic Exoskeleton, was developed over four years and had its first public demonstration in Auckland today.

The company behind the technology, Rex Bionics, is understood to have kept the project under wraps since 2006."

JavaScript/HTML 5 Gaming? 201

cjcela writes "Lately I've seen some HTML 5/JavaScript games popping up on the web. Most of them lack sound, and are not polished, but little by little this is changing. As an example, check Galactic Plunder. While it is only a single-level proof of concept, it is one of the first arcade non-Flash games that I've found playable. Do you know of other comparable or better pure JavaScript games?"

Australia Gets Its First Female Prime Minister 419

An anonymous reader writes "Julia Gillard has been elected unopposed to the Labor leadership, seizing power in a bloodless Parliament House coup after Prime Minister Kevin Rudd decided not to contest this morning's leadership ballot. Ms. Gillard will now be sworn in as Australia's first female prime minister. Emerging from this morning's meeting, she said she felt 'very honored' and said she would be making a statement shortly. Treasurer Wayne Swan now steps up as deputy prime minister. He was also elected unopposed."
