I would hope that Canon, a big name in lens for years, would be working to overcome that limitation. It is hard to imagine that they wouldn't be doing something in the lens field to match and make the sensor usable. But, maybe as the report had stated about the 50 Megapixel not showing up, as you said, it is that difficulty they haven't overcome. It is like being given a $1000 bill and no one having the change to break it...

Look at it this way. If all that is out there are Smart machinces, why would they want to contact biological life forms? And what would motiviate them to leave a planet? They would have to hardwired "Hairwire" to continue the "passions" of biological beings, which is not of benefit to rational machine enities. Even the Borg had to have a Biological factor to desire to 'assimilate' others. No matter how smart the toaster is, it will see no advantage in looking for bread to burn out its elements. It will be happy to collect dust and stay put.

Sounds like the boys from NASA should get hold of this technology, since the guys in long term space are being bombarded on a regular basis. It might cut some of the current suits mass down, or give the mass over to particle stopping material, instead of radition protection. Even in the ISS, the exposure rate must be high.

They installed some red light cameras in our town. I notice that they replace the pressure plates in the intersection, with a dual plate system. They read when a car passes over them and that they are the triggers, not the cameras. So, it is the tires of your car that tells on you. Plus, with a dual plate system, they can calculate your speed. When you speed up to get through the changing light, and you exceed the speed limit, they got you twice, once for the red light, and speeding.

Submission + - PS 3 Playing with Black Holes

RickyG writes: "Space.com reports of a PS 3 Gravity Grid, with 16 machines doing the work of a supercomputer, for about the cost of one run of a supercomputer. The University of Alabama at Huntsville, has this at a cost $6000, compared to $5000 for the super. And it does extra simulations at no extra cost. PS3 Gravity Grid runs simulations that resolved an ongoing dispute over the speed at which spinning black holes stop vibrating just after forming or being perturbed by an outside object. One theory held that the black holes go silent at relatively fast speeds, while another theory contended they went quiet at slower speeds. I do wonder what the Grid is doing on the downtimes. Sounds like a massively interesting game of Deathmatch somewhere. http://www.space.com/businesstechnology/090128-playstation3-blackholes.html"
