Submission + - Seaweed line of clothing lacks seaweed! (nytimes.com)

Bayoudegradeable writes: Do you find that the high end clothing you buy isn't cutting it anymore? Don't we all need clothing that, "releases marine amino acids, minerals and vitamins into the skin upon contact with moisture"? Turns out that Lululemon Athletica, with its "stress reducing" line of clothing, is missing the very seaweed it is purported to include. After the New York Times ordered up some lab tests, the fancy yoga clothes seem to look a lot like cotton only clothing. I for one need seaweed in my clothing in order to have balance in my life and I can't believe I am missing out on all the benefits of seaweed/skin contact now!

Submission + - Gulf of Mexico Dead Zone Growing

Bayoudegradeable writes: What are some of the costs of increased ethanol production? The Times Picayune in New Orleans is reporting on the massive, and growing Dead Zone that forms each summer in the Gulf of Mexico. Farm runoff, fertilizers and the such are the direct cause and the increased corn production to fuel the ethanol craze is making things worse. Sounds like more bad news for an area still struggling to rebound from Katrina.

Submission + - Debunking Global Warming.

Bayoudegradeable writes: "Recently my father and one of my best friends expressed serious doubts on global warming. I was even sent this "quiz" that claims hard science against the global warming argument. How could I best counter this so-called science? I figured Slashdot would be the perfect place to have some very informed people present their cases either for or against global warming. What say you?"

Submission + - US moon base

Bayoudegradeable writes: The NY Times is running a piece on US plans to build a moon base.
NASA announced Monday it will establish an international base camp on one of the moon's poles, permanently staffing it by 2024, four years after astronauts return to the moon.

Will Virgin Galactic get a moon hotel built first?

Submission + - RFID Credit Cards Easy to Read

Bayoudegradeable writes: "The New York Times (registration required...heavens!) is running an article about the unencrytped information some new types of RFID credit cards carry. From the article, 'But in tests on 20 cards from Visa, MasterCard and American Express, the researchers here found that the cardholder's name and other data was being transmitted without encryption and in plain text. They could skim and store the information from a card with a device the size of a couple of paperback books.'

Will this spawn a whole new branch of wardriving?"

Submission + - U.S. National Space Policy

Bayoudegradeable writes: "The Washington Post is running a story about U.S. space policy with regards to national security. FTA, "President Bush has signed a new National Space Policy that rejects future arms-control agreements that might limit U.S. flexibility in space and asserts a right to deny access to space to anyone 'hostile to U.S. interests.'"

So how does the U.S. protect national security in space without... weapons? Is this the new arms race?"

Submission + - Price, marketing and corporate attitude:PS3 vs Wii

Bayoudegradeable writes: "The Toronto Star is running an interesting piece that looks back to the good old days when near monocolor GameBoys beat the pants off of fancy color Sega GameGear. Will Sony become the new Sega? That is, will the PS3 lose out to a far less advanced system? Will the WiiMote crush prettier versions of Liberty City? 'While it's still too soon to tell which console will win the Wii vs. PS3 smack down, it wouldn't hurt Sony to take a lesson from Sega's rulebook: Start listening to your fans, stop dictating to them.'"
