Submission + - Solar Stormwatch crowdsourcing (solarstormwatch.com)

meglon writes: News flash on the sun: It's Hot!

The fine folks at Galaxy Zoo have just launched another mission oriented site at http://solarstormwatch.com/

Solar Stormwatch will use volunteers to spot and track solar storms and ejecta, with hopes of understanding them a bit better, and possibly mitigating some of the potential damage from them on us poor earthlings. Perusing feeds from collected from NASA's STEREO spacecrafts, you can also happen upon comets (which is pretty cool). The interface is nice and clean, and while the video's are somewhat limited in scope, but it's a worthwhile project that could potentially save a few lives, and you never know, maybe they'll name a comet after you (if you find one before anyone else).
