The iPhone 3G couldn't even reliably run iOS4, I had to downgrade it if I wanted to actually USE it for anything but making phone calls. Even entering text took ages. Considering my (as in my personal phone, not the model as a whole) was only one year old at the time, I was bit miffed. It's actually what ended up driving me away from Apple.

I was going to post something like this, but I couldn't say it any better than you did. +1 to you, I wish I actually had mod points for this.

I think the thing that bothers me most about this discussion is exactly what you bring up- it was incredibly easy to predict exactly how it was going to go, and it's making me question the culture (or lack there-of) here as I go through it. It never ceases to amaze me how this site is capable of bringing in incredibly intelligent, insightful people who've taught me so much about science and technology...

And simultaneously, an infinite number of anonymous cowards and not-so-anonymous cowards who haven't the slightest idea what they're talking about because they don't read the article, don't understand, or don't WANT to understand.

What I wouldn't give for mod points on this article. Here's a +1 for you in feeling, if not in fact.

The fact that a post containing a link to that abysmal website got modded up, with thoughts like his "it won't get you laid, so why bother?" is probably the number one reason I'm losing faith in this site and community. Sigh.

Possibly- but the more I think about it, the more I can see why the creator would make such a post if it isn't him. Based on discussions yesterday, there's good reason to believe the creator's sitting on millions upon millions of USD worth of bitcoins. If people were to assume the gentleman "outed" in Newsweek had such funding available to him, that might put him in danger.

So, rather than put someone in danger who has nothing to do with this situation, the creator makes this post. I think it seems logical, but that's just a theory.

I'm actually somewhat impressed with Bing maps, despite how horrid Bing itself is in every other way.

Nintendo could have had a chance if they'd bothered to release any games at launch. I love my Wii U (and am thoroughly enjoying Windwaker HD at the moment, though more looking forward to Project X), but the launch was absolutely botched.

I was offered a contract to work as a verification engineer for them for 6 weeks, starting about 6 weeks before the layoff announcement. They told me at the time that if "you work really hard and show that you know what you're doing, we'll fight to keep you on full time!"

Utter load of crap. Thankfully another company in the area offered me full time work, so I was able to avoid the inevitable let down I would have encountered. That being said, I still respect what Medtronic does, and the people I spoke with were passionate about helping people. I'm glad to still work in the same industry, and wish we could get projects more in line with what's in this article- it would be amazing to help people in such a way.
