"Freedom solves everything" crowd?

Libertarians are the "Freedom for me solves everything" crowd.

The instant you start talking about other people's freedom you are branded a "bleeding-heart."

These days, it's more like this:

Three represents the trinity, so the answer to all questions is obviously three. But the evil liberal scientists are claiming that 2+2=4, and Nate Silver reports on that. So some pundits and bloggers come up with "Unskewed Arithmetic," where 2+2=3, and Fox News eagerly reports on that, to the applause of their viewers. Nate Silver is attacked personally, as being "Thin and effeminate."

But then someone gets two coconuts, and two more coconuts, and put them down and actually count them. They come up with four! So Fox News and its viewers complain that it's because all those welfare recipients always they're entitled to one more of everything.

That's right. Even reporting that 2+2=4 is biased. Because why did you not include Jesus???

Well, you certainly put a lot of effort into that reply. But please look at my responses to the other replies in this thread. I guess I just didn't add enough exclamation points and "Duh"s, or emphasize the "Texas high school math book" aspect enough, for most people to get the joke.

I guess I should have added a lot of extra exclamation points mixed with 1s, and put "Hurr Durr" at the end or something.

Holy fuck, does no one on Slashdot understand jokes? Look at the number 1 replacing an exclamation point in the headline and the post. Then look at the line "(Goes back to reading Texas high school math book)." Does every joke have to be spelled out?

Incidentally, did you know that the word "Whoosh" has been eliminated from Texas dictionaries?

"Prospective" is an adjective, so I'm not sure how it makes sense by itself in a headline. Prospective what?

I was thinking you meant something like, "Have some perspective," which makes a lot of sense, given the body of your post.

I took a number out of the Romney/Ryan economic recovery plan, and multiplied it by itself to see what would happen. I got a negative number. Why would that be?

I took another number and multiplied it by itself, and got another negative number. In fact, every number I took from that plan and multiplied by itself, I got a negative number!

How could that be?

Abortion. He's gone back and forth on that since the 90s.

He's been pretty solidly advocating new laws against abortion recently, but a couple days ago he told the Des Moines Register, "There’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda." Then his campaign hastily "corrected" that a couple hours later and said he "would of course support legislation aimed at providing greater protections for life."

The thing is, Romney has been on every side of every issue. So there's something to like about him for everyone!
