I already stated that I wouldn't want to compare the two approaches and I totally understand your point. My point, however was: They basically say “Censorship is cool with us, as long as we stay in control”. And this rhetoric is wrong on so many levels.

Göring said similar things years after:

Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger.

History doesn't repeat, it rhymes.

At the moment there is a project involving an under-sea cable to Norway which produces 99% of their electricity from renewable sources. Unfortunately this project is being hindered by some stupid bureaucracy (involving some awkward definitions...never mind) and the oligopoly of four big power corporations owning the net.

And there are lots of projects done by local authorities and smaller companies, for example using CHP in district heating plants or in your own basement, just to name a few examples.

So, it looks like Germany won't have to import that much of its energy, once the oney formerly being used for nuclear subsidies is being put into good use.

Actually, the tabloids (okay, mostly BILD) did the best they could in order to escalate those parties by supplying Facebook links, date, time and address of some of those parties to their readers. And of course they sent some of their own reporters, too. Servicewüste Deutschland my ass!

Japanese Scientist Creates Meat Substitute From Sewage Screenshot-sm 417

An anonymous reader writes "Hold on to your hamburgers — Japanese scientist Mitsyuki Ikeda at the Environmental Assessment Center in Okayama has invented an artificial meat substitute made from human feces. The unseemly meal is made by extracting protein and lipids from 'sewage mud.' The lipids are then combined with a reaction enhancer and whipped into 'meat' in an exploder. Ikeda makes the 'meat' more palatable by adding things like soy protein."
