Of course, the right to travel without presenting identification in response to a directive that we still have not been shown is still restricted, at least in the 9th circuit.

Not only did we not actually abolish slavery in America...

We truly did. You are blinded by equating other things to slavery.

Ah. Prison labor. You get partial credit, in that prison labor has very few of the protections labor elsewhere has. But even so, inmates are free to refuse without submitting to further corporal punishment or the threat of execution. Not so of slaves.

...they are effectively a slave...

Are they free to look for work elsewhere? Are they free to start their own business, and rise or fall with the success of it? Yes? Then... not even effectively a slave.
By your same definition, I would guess that most housewives (or, to be fair, househusbands) are also "effectively slaves"?

their needs are not being met

I have a need to have a new rolls-royce every year. My employer is not satisfying that need. Am I effectively a slave thereby? ... didn't think so.

How about the permanently disabled, including the elderly? Medicare/medicaid/social security is generally inadequate. How about them?

Ever wonder why the cost of labor is so high in San Francisco? Kinda goes with the cost of living. Your garbage man, your maid, your grocery clerk isn't going to work for a wage that they see can't support them. There are exceptions (qv the mathematically challenged, including many Uber drivers).

Please don't equate actual slavery - loss of autonomy to the point where one's health and life itself is at stake - with economic limitations.

I would say that the anti-cancer genes could themselves be a downside. ... because it makes them more desirable for capture/attack by other predators ... like research assistants.

Now if we tag the research assistants with glow-in-the-dark jeans, we might be able to study the predator-prey relations in greater detail.

Would I buy a product for a premium, that provably kept my information private? Quite possibly yes.

Why? In the first model, "they" control whether your information is private or not, and to what extent, and for what period. In the second model, ** I ** do.

That is a HUGE distinction that you are missing.

You've found exactly the thing, though.

Paramount had ONE SHOW that I wanted to watch. And a lot of backlog that I'd seen.

Amazon Prime had ONE SHOW that I wanted to watch. And a lot of fluff that I didn't care about.

If the service only has the one show, once the season is over, so am I. So... using streaming services serially. Streaming them, as it were.

Also, is this a felony trial, or a civil one?

There are parallel criminal and civil cases to this, but this case is - effectively - blaming the gun manufacturer for the death of someone killed by one of their guns.

The motion to dismiss is simply a "get out of lawsuit early" tactic. I still don't expect the plaintiff to win, or to beat an appeal on the same grounds as a similar gun case would.
