That is done today. It is is called "Differential GPS" (DGPS) and "Real-Time Kinematics" (RTK). However, it's much more than just averaging - there are more complex mathematics involved to remove the errors common to both sets of measurements. When you are talking about pseudoranges measured in nanoseconds, darn near everything is significant. In research, surveying and other high-accuracy positioning systems, the Ionosphere, Troposphere, multipath, antenna-to-receiver cable lengths, the data acquisition and computation time and several other effects are all modeled.

For myself, I think the most surprising was needing to pay attention to the number of significant bits in the mantissa of real and double precision numbers used in the calculations. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't exactly match the results between the embedded processor in the receiver and my software model, and I finally figured out that there was a 1 bit difference between the number of bits assigned to the mantissa of the double precision floating point formats in each system. I finally figured it out by noticing that the value for the radius of the Earth at the equator (a fixed constant in both models and carried out to a ridiculous number of significant digits) was not exactly the same in the two systems.

In California, there is often a local city or county percentage added to the state sales tax. The cities can do whatever they want with *their* portion of the sales tax. The state's portion goes to the state.

Just get a bachelor's degree - any degree. The people who say you don't need a degree are probably people without a degree. It doesn't matter whether the degree is useful or not, and in most cases it doesn't matter where the degree came from or what major it is - what matters is that you have it. The hiring processes of most companies (big or small) are fairly similar. The job description is written and given to the HR recruiter. If the job description says "Bachelor's Degree", then anyone without that requirement will most likely be excluded. The entire point of your resume is to NOT be eliminated from contention so that you get a chance to actually talk to the hiring manager. If you can't get into the manager's office, you never have a chance to wow them with your brilliance and charm. So, if you get a degree in Underwater Basket Weaving, your resume is perfectly accurate if it simply says: Bachelor's Degree, University of Late Bloomers, 2012. You really don't need to say more than that, and you will have passed that hurdle. If they want to know more than that, let them ask you - at least you will be talking to them!

The released documents are interesting reading - although very long-winded and obtuse. What fascinates me is the overall callousness and unemotional references to non-Muslim human lives. Bin Laden cautions against killing the French hostages, not because killing is wrong, but because the political ramifications might have a negative effect at this time. The only time there seemed to be any concern for human life was on the issue of suicide bombings that killed random Muslims in Afghanistan & Pakistan. For most of the letters, he could very well have been a CEO talking about a downsizing at a branch office.

Welfare is INCREDIBLY expensive when you consider the impact it has on society and the creation of a class of of people raised on a culture of entitlement. Government assistance should be either a short-term bridge or part of a long-term solution for the disabled. You are not entitled to a standard of living paid for by other people, and there should be NO type of work you will not accept in order to feed yourself and your family.
