Comment Legal requirements (Score 1) 505

There are likely legal requirements for companies to retain records of their transactions for several years (Sarbanes-Oxley?). This would make it legally sticky to have your ssn removed from a business database even after you no longer do business with them. Likely your ssn is the only unique identifier in the system that verifies who you are.

As an interesting aside, my last company was bought by another company, but a shell company was formed from the original strictly for the purpose of maintaining the old company records. That shell had to exist for three years before they could close it down and destroy the records.

People lament that you can't actually role play in a computer RPG, but here's a guy doing that, and he's an outcast.

And that's the classic excuse players use in a game to be complete jerks. "I'm roleplaying a complete jerk."

Just because you "can" do it doesn't mean you "should" do it.

One of the cheapest costs of living, especially if you don't mind commuting from the burbs.

You're kidding, right? I've lived a few years in Tampa now, but moved from Oklahoma and I actually know what a low cost of living is really like. Let's just say the cost of living in central Florida is not incredibly high but nowhere near the cheapest.

Why do we need newspapers? It's just another idea whose time has come and gone. Do we still have town criers?

Every few months, the paper guy knocks on my door and asks if I want to subscribe. I always tell him I get my news from the web. It's not that I no longer read. I just don't read the paper.

Really, mind pointing out who "a lot of people" are? I find it funny that so many people reference that the general public is sick of liberal bias in the media, yet I never actually see the evidence that proves it. I never see where the general public even acknowledges that it has a clue what said liberal bias is.

"A lot of people" would be the Fox News viewership (the figures are easy enough to find on the web). You may not like it, but you can't say it isn't popular and doesn't have real numbers backing.
