Comment This article makes no sense (Score 0) 221

If you don't listen to customers who purchase your product that's a recipe for a short business venture. If you don't want to visit your own forums then DON'T HAVE ONE. If you want people to have a place on the web to discuss your ideas, creativity, products, etc... then a fan will create one if your product is good enough. Game developers should have blogs if they don't want to interact with their users. Fan sites go a very long way towards retaining brand loyalty. If you don't listen to your biggest fans then you'll lose them and all the loyalty they've worked hard to create FOR YOU. Which in that case, would make you an unappreciative a**hole. People don't have to buy your product or reiterations of it. If you take your users for granted you'll lose them and your business.

Holy crap, I'm surprised that many people whiffed at an excellent ABBA segway. How can you people not know ABBA? Go out and listen to ABBA's Gold album right now... especially the song Waterloo which 99% of you obviously haven't heard. And another thing, listen to it in the Swedish translation as a penalty for your original ignorance. :) Mention Dr. Who or Star Wars and everyone is on board. Mention ABBA and everyone crooks their head to the left.

In this particular instance it's not an issue due to age and race. Had that not been the case then sure, I might be a little concerned. All employers wanting to hire technicians should do a proper background check instead of the unprofessional results displayed in a google search or worse... social networking sites.

If an employer didn't hire me because they thought I'm that fictitious other guy because of their own unprofessional methods (a.k.a. stupidity) I'm fine with that... I would only end up unhappy and frustrated by working with stupid people anyway.

While searching for my own name I found out someone in the same town with the same name was sentenced to 50 years in prison. The guy was nailed for possession of about 3 kilo's of cocaine. The intent to distribute was pretty obvious. Let's just say none of my old friends or girlfriends have ever contacted me since.

Which brings up a nifty scenario if you don't want to be contacted by old girlfriends. Just find a state vs drug dealer affidavit online somewhere, fill in the blanks with you name, create your own legal sounding domain name, and post it. Private reg on the dns is a good idea. This happened to me coincidentally but I was thinking it would work exactly the same if I did it to myself on purpose. It's not illegal to make a hoax directed towards yourself right? It works surprisingly well.

1. Old hats will not take the trouble to wade through the justice system to find your contact info.
2. They probably wouldn't want to after reading your affidavit anyway.

Make social engineering statements in the affidavit to deter old hat resurrection. For female deterrent add things like "hit girlfriend and mother in the face with large bludgeoning tool (baseball bat)". For male deterrent add things like "stabbed neighbor in the testicles with a hunting knife".

You expressed my sentiments exactly. Furthermore, there's got to be a special interest involved because the entire fiasco makes absolutely no sense. Why are brain-dead companies trying to push this Real ID crap like they're drug dealers. Just say no to Real ID. Nothing good can come of it.

Pics or it didn't happen. I can't find any images or video of this so-called hotspot. ABC has some video but it might as well be a 5 minute long promotion of the hotel with no mention of the event written in the article next to it. In the video a party promoter says something like "anything to get revenue into the hotel". I'm thinking this might just be a publicity stunt.

Kudos to you as well. Restoring sanity is exactly what they do even if it's in a comedic way. It's sad these 2 particular shows have a better grasp on what is newsworthy than an entire news industry. I especially find it ghastly when news outlets try to make certain politicians into living demigods... or in Glen Beck's case... themselves. We need a revival of journalism in order to get rid of this sick culture of regurgitated and opinionated news via teleprompted zombie mouthpieces. I guess that's why I really love Stewart's show; because they actually do research for the public good like real journalists used to do.

Submission + - China to road test an eco-friendly "Straddle Bus" (rediff.com)

Dr Herbert West writes: China is gearing up to road test an eco-friendly 'straddle' super bus, which is high enough to allow a two-lane tunnel beneath it for cars to pass through. Hopefully it will help with some of their most recent gridlock problems. The picture looks like something from some 70's "cars of the future" Omni article.
