The kernel is the one common component across each of my servers. Some of our servers run Apache HTTP, others Tomcat, WebLogic, BIND, etc, but they all run the Linux kernel. Each of those programs I mentioned earlier run on multiple platforms, so saying "Tomcat" alone does not tell you the OS.

There's one benefit to the blackout rule. If the team is so lousy that the game doesn't sell out, then it probably isn't worth watching anyway. I've watched a few great games which I would not have been able to see if the Buffalo Bills weren't blacked out.

There is an option on the iPhone for "Group Messages". The default behavior is for group messages to be sent as MMS. If the iPhone user disables group messages, messages sent to groups of people will be sent as SMS instead of MMS.

This is incredibly annoying for me because many of my friends and family have iPhones and I can't get MMS. If someone sends a message only to me, I will get a SMS. But my phone silently drops MMS, so I never see the messages sent to groups.

Just out of curiosity, why did you setup OpenVPN just so that you can SSH into the computer? Why not open up SSH at the firewall/router (preferably on a different port to avoid most of the scanners)?

If you use Windows and all of your important applications are open source and cross platform then you have an easier time replacing the operating system. I doubt that is the goal of the VLC developers, but it is a nice side effect.

I sure hope not. I decided to give Blizard the benefit of the doubt and bought D3 despite the always online requirements. What a waste. I won't get into the launch day/week problems because those have been mentioned enough already. I'm a morning person and I don't get to play games too often. A few times now I sat down to play single player but I couldn't because it was Blizards maintenance window. If this is the future of gaming, then I'm done with computer gaming.

If you're going after true no-risk investments, stick to CD's. At least they're backed by the FDIC. MMF's are reliable, but not truly no-risk.

I'm in the same boat. The only time I see 24 Mbps is when I go to a test site, otherwise I've never seen over 1.2 Mbps sustained (and usually less than that).
