Comment Re:Disposable EV cars due to battery costs (Score 1) 382

This story really needs to be nuked from orbit. I hope that Canadian couple can afford to buy another (gas) Porsche now.
Anyway, the real headline there was "Insurance Company Writes Off EV For Battery Scratch", and the real story was that there are like a handful of cases like this in North America and the actuaries don't care and the companies just don't bother with them since the numbers are literally nothing compared to shelling out for a few thousand gas Civic crashes every day.
BTW: I recently got an insurance quote for replacing our $40K normal gas SUV with a $70K electric luxury version, and the increase in price was shockingly small, so yeah, insurapocalypse, still NOT A THING..

LOL, I can think of few Buicks that stand out in my mind that were actually bigger than today's larger and larger "compact" SUVs. The more popular ones (like the Century) of the past 40 years or so are possibly boat-y, but not big, by today's standards. Even a 90's Park Avenue barely makes it to today's mid-sized category.

There are search features, lists by price, popularity/sales, etc. I've neither been annoyed by spam nor had trouble finding something. It's a platform to sell games, and it works. The garbage stays buried unless it gets popular, and promotion is accomplished elsewhere, on YouTube / social media / gaming "news" outlets.

The problem the Times has here is that same as every other site on the Internet -- If someone can ask an AI chatbot for the information their site provides, then they don't need to go to the site, pay for access and/or view advertisements. So eventually, their site, and every other one requiring the support of paid staff dies out, and then the chatbots have nothing left to learn from, they die, and we start all over again.
