What I got from the post is that Netflix was only given permission to read your messages. With the heavy implication that Netflix never utilized that permission. That they made sure not to directly say that, only imply it, tells me what actually happened.

But even apart from the telling PR-dance, leaving data on the table is leaving money on the table. If someone's been given permission to take it, they will. Sometimes even without the permission.

Performers have been paid residuals almost as long as performances have been recorded. I'm not sure what you think this practice has to do with "owning your own games". Game developers have been trying to take that away since the 80s, before they used actors. Hollywood was just beginning to hear about DRM from the tech guys at that point.

As far as the grandparent's concern about it being "possible to see a movie" without spending a fortune, here's an idea: Try - maybe just sometimes - skipping the movie. I go to the movies maybe once or twice a year. I don't feel that I'm spending outside my means, and I don't feel that I'm missing anything. If the actors' game or movie is too expensive for you, don't buy it.

100%. Church used to fulfill these functions, but there are tons of secular charity and community-service type organizations as well.

If it sounds boring, just compare it to spending another hour on Slashdot. It's not any worse. That hour on Slashdot will actually be a lot nicer if you delay it until after you've been out doing something else.

I had K-12 education in mind when I wrote that, but that has more to do with Texas than Joe.

I don't really know how higher education is funded, but I know one-time student loan forgiveness won't fix it. It's more performance than substance. Obama at least tried to get us a health care system.

Joe's big legacy was supposed to be wrapping it up in Afghanistan. Somehow he managed to turn that into a negative, now the whole "cleansing Gaza of ragheads" thing. Poor Joe... he never quite fooled me though. We haven't forgot his record from the 80s.

It goes back at least a decade at this point. I first heard about issues in the assembly plants in 2015, years before the MCAS crashes. I think the company was still denying there was a problem at that point.

Is there anyone who still believes they want to fix it? The problem's made them very successful so far.

So Tesla's just going to pool all your data and do nothing with it until you give them the OK to start freewheeling with it. Tesla's just going to leave that money on the table while their competitors gorge themselves.

Thanks, also, for clarifying that Tesla only offers a small handful of subscription offers, at reasonable prices (please, tell me about their financing). So refreshing compared to other automakers, with their large handfuls. Tesla truly has my interests at heart.

Politicians might be an analogy, yeah. Some people believe them.
