Oh please....crime is a significant "force multiplier" on why people don't want to be downtown. Sure, a captive audience of officer workers nearby may have delayed the inevitable for a time, but people just don't want to be in that area and experience the filth and the crime. That applies to shopping AND working.

And it's not just Macy's. Until the city pulls its head out of its ass and creates an environment where people WANT to spend their time and dollars, it's all over but the shouting. As long as the voters are enabling the politicians who are allowing this to continue, I see little hope of improvement.

Assange had been involved in criminal hacking incidents since he was a teenager. I love the "F the US" crowd who are cheering for this guy when he's pretty much been a criminal that's been pushing the envelope of doing time in prison since the 80's. And he finally pushed far enough to draw the attention of an adversary that would effectively make him a prisoner for about a quarter of his life (so far).

Fuck VMWare and Broadcom. Broadcom is doing what it has previously done to enterprise customers of intellectual property that it hoovers up. It dramatically raises prices. One need only look at how CA customers were completely bent over after it was acquired by Broadcom. The instant this deal was announced, I knew the same fate would befall customers of VMWare. What you'll see is many companies who are stuck will try to execute shorter term renewals of their existing licenses and will then expedite migration to alternate platforms both in the datacenter and in the mobile device and collaboration space.

The price does seem rather bubbly, but I'd rather invest in a company that actually makes things that are competitive in the world marketplace than a company that makes nearly 80% of its revenue capturing and mining the personal data of its users to feed a parasitic advertising monster. No thanks.

Nice to see some progress, but I'm more interested in whether or not it's break-even. Consider the length of time to get here and the cost of the project. It effectively produced enough electricity to charge a single Tesla model 3 to about 25% capacity. We're likely still quite a few generations away from seeing fusion power at any significant scale.
