Sounds like it's time for a new ad campaign.

Linux: Sits silently off to the left.
Mac: "Hi, I'm a Mac"
Windows: "Hi, I'm a Window"
Mac: Gestures rudely at Windows
Windows: Grabs a chair and throws at Mac
Linux: Begins chuckling off to the left
Windows and Mac: Begin brawling
(Fade to Mac and Windows sitting on the ground behind linux, all battered and bruised]
Linux: "Why fight? Choose Linux."

Meet the new ad campaign, same as the old as campaign.

Submission + - Dell says Windows 7 pricing may be a 'problem'

ausekilis writes: On Tom's Hardware is a brief article concerning the price for the upcoming Windows 7

The director of product management for Dell's business client product group, Darrel Ward, thinks that the price for the upcoming Windows 7 operating system may potentially be an obstacle for early adopters.

Considering Dell sells Ubuntu-equipped Inspiron 15n for ~$350, and Vista Equipped Inspiron 15 for ~$399, and "If there's one thing that may influence adoption, make things slower or cause customers to pause, it's that generally the ASPs (average selling price) of the operating systems are higher than they were for Vista and XP", it makes you wonder exactly what they hidden "Windows 7 fee" will be on machines later.

Let the flames begin.

Submission + - The Brain Chemistry behind Mysticism 2

Skleed writes: "National Public Radio is doing a five part series on the scientific study of mystical experiences. Researchers are trying to figure out what happens in the brains of people "getting in touch with the divine."

Because the timing of subject's episodes are difficult to control, it seems that researchers are relying on some good old fashioned psychedelic drugs for assistance. The explanations of the brain chemistry are simplistic, but researchers are after the "God question":

"Why does that [the mystical experience] occur? Why has the human organism been engineered, if you will, for this experience?"

What do slashdotters think, can science answer of why the human brain often seeks a "greater being"?"

Now the real question (for us in Australia) is - if $60US is a high price point, and that's what the games are selling for. Why the hell do we pay $115 for the high price point (at least at my local chain)? Let's do a conversion: Currently, $60US = $68AU. OK, we live far away. Right then, let's add very generous $20AU for postage. That's a total of $88AU to get a single game shipped here. Therefore, I could order many many games, individually, from the shelf of a US retailer - sell them from my shelf, and make $27 per game. So when we factor in bulk discounts, wholesale prices, and bulk freight, it's seeming like there's a whole lot of profit in Australian game retailers pockets. Where do I sign up?
