Doesn't sound legal, but of course it requires someone fight the tel co's. I don't think this would fly in the UK where the ombudsman would take one look at a complaint about it and slap it down. Not everything in UK is screwed... yet. I complained to the ombudsman here about a similarly rubbish practice where the tel co (Virgin Media) was trying to charge me for service after I had notified them to end my service, they claimed I couldn't quit my service until all bills were paid - some kind of bizarro land scheme where I could never leave!! Went my way of course.

If you go with the main networks in the UK you get ripped off but if you buy your phone and then use 3rd parties like Lebara, Giffgaff or iD mobile then you get to use the network backbone of your choice without paying the high fees.

Lebara runs on Vodafone network, iD runs on the Three network, GiffGaff runs on the O2 network, Lyca runs on the EE network.

I use a TamperMonkey/violentmonkey script called "remove Adblock Thing" by JoelMatic on Github. It's been working better than the previous adblocker. The nice side effect of using scripts rather than extensions is that all of the scripts come back after having to restore from backup unlike extensions which all get nuked by chrome and chromium forks. Firefox is far better for backing up.

Russian Doll - great, I love the way Series 1 progresses towards the end. Series 2 lost my interest, it felt like they were just trying to milk the success of the first series after the story is over.

I haven't seen the latest MI movie but otherwise all meh, watchable but forgettable, except 'Spider-man across the Spiderverse' - wow possibly the most effort I've ever seen put in to an animated movie, very impressive.

The govt initially didn't allow market forces to work, they put out an auction where the companies could bid lower prices to get the contracts to build wind farms. But the govt set the maximum price too low, no company could supply electricity for the price they wanted. The summary is wrong in saying the price is increase 50% because A) the price was never 50% lower and B) the amount that increased is where bidding starts, not ends.

Make it a choice, give the waiters a tablet to use for when when the customers won't / can't use their phones to order. Make it clear there is a choice and customers might be happy about being able to order how they want.
