"Read the Bills Act" (what I like to call "RTFB Act"): the bill must be read aloud before a full quorum in both the House and the Senate. In addition, 7 days must pass between when a change was made to the bill, and when they can vote on it. Furthermore, the full text of the bill must be made available to the public at least 7 days before a vote, and Congress must give notice on when they will be voting for that bill.

"One Subject at a Time Act": Self explanatory. Each bill can not address more than one subject at a time.

but how do you judge the Zune against the iPod?

Feature set compared to price? (fyi, the zune costs less (at least, on newegg, they are. retail, I believe they're $5 more. However, the Zune has an fm radio, wireless sharing/multiplayer gaming, can connect to a wireless network, and can shop from the Zune store no wires attached. Both have a max of 120GB.)

UI? (The Zune's (artist/album/etc) list is a circular linked list, so if you're down at the bottom of the list (say, around Weird Al Yankovic) you can keep scrolling down to get back to the top of the list (say, around Anberlin). Also, while the zune has a touch sensitive scroller, it's not in an annoying circle form. Additionally, it has actual buttons that aren't part of the circle. Go buttons!)

MIT and NASA Designing Silent Aircraft 176

Iddo Genuth writes "Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics recently won a contract from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to design quieter, more energy efficient, and more environmentally friendly commercial airplanes. The two-million-dollar contract from NASA is just an initial step in bringing green technologies to the sky."

Ask Blizzard Employees About Things That Matter 504

In just a few days, some of us will be making the trek to this year's Blizzcon event in Anaheim, CA. In addition to the interesting announcements, sneak peeks, and other distractions, we will be sitting down with several Blizzard employees to answer any questions you might have. So far we have scheduled some time with Chris Sigaty, lead producer on StarCraft II; Jeffrey Kaplan (aka Tigole), game director for World of Warcraft; Leonard Boyarsky, lead world designer on Diablo III; and Paul Sams, Blizzard COO. Please address your questions to one (or several) of these candidates and try to keep them civil and on topic. Questions about Diablo III's art style will most likely be omitted since we have limited time and that dead horse has already been beaten into submission. The usual Slashdot interview rules apply, but beyond that, the sky is the limit.
It's funny. Laugh.

"War On Terror" Board Game Confiscated In UK 598

An anonymous reader writes "The board game The War On Terror is a satirical game in which George Bush's 'Axis of Evil' is reduced to a spinner in the middle of the board, which determines which player is designated a terrorist state. That person then has to wear a balaclava (included in the box set) with the word 'Evil' stitched onto it. Kent police said they had confiscated the game because the balaclava 'could be used to conceal someone's identity or could be used in the course of a criminal act.' Balaclavas are freely sold all over the place in the area." Schneier has blogged this stupidity, of course.
