Comment Re:what would be the cost to refund (Score 2, Informative) 313

I went out and bought a full Vista Ultimate and all I get is the price of an OEM version?

If (and I did) I bought a 'Vista Capable' computer that I was TOLD would work with Vista and then went out and spent $499 on Windows Ultimate because I was assured it would work but only get $200ish back because "Oops, we thought it would work... Our bad!"

I think this is still fraud. I want
A) A computer that is 'Vista Capable'
or
B) A refund for the Windows Vista that I was told would work but cant return because I had to open it to install it to find out it didn't work.

I'll even go without compensation for the hours I wasted of my time to Backup my documents, install Vista, restore documents, find out it wont work, backup documents again, install the XP that the computer came with and finally restore documents yet again.

This is why I think I tend to enjoy Mac OS X, Linux and Solaris a little bit more than Windows, no hassles.

I love the freebies from Microsoft, that's the best thing with them, you say well... we don't want to spend that kind of money (or don't have it) and they go "well, here's some products see how these work for you" and throw a whole ton extra goodies on the side for "testing" and "documentation"

This is the biggest thing I miss from having my company.

Personally I've never found OO.o to cause any problems for me, in fact its fixed quite a few problems with my MS Office Documents (To many to count going from 2007 --> 2003 at my last job)

And MS Office at $150 a computer? Every place I've been to its been $300-$400 a computer.

For me though my preference is whatever I'm given, I don't care if its MS Office (2000+, Mac or Windows) or OO.o (version 2+, Windows, Mac, Or Linux) 98%+ of my time is typing and as long as I have a document at the end to show for my time I'll be fine.

The average user hasn't been locked into Windows for over 10 years, most people are just a clueless on how to do stuff in Windows as you are in Linux. They look at the screen and if they have basic problem solving they'll start to find out how to do things after 5-10 minutes (maybe longer with a Mac, Finder -> Applications might be too complex) People just click around until stuff happens and if it works great! if it doesn't work its broken!

Stick most people who don't use computers all the time in front of a Linux or Windows computer and all they see is confusion.

Totally agree here, I've bought roughly 500 songs from Itunes before and I'd say it was one of the worst things I've done in my life, I was only able to play on certain computers of mine using certain programs.

Now, I'm honestly tempted to look into what Itunes is offering again, now that its not DRM'd I'm able to play the music I payed for and that's all I'm looking for hell, my name? my email address? I wouldn't even call that a price to pay to be able to use what I call "my" music.
