What driver issues? Maybe you're thinking of the pre-AMD ATI. I heard all sorts of scary stories before buying a HD 5770, but I haven't had any problems with it. The performance is quite good too.
Or just don't buy one from HP. I noticed that a lot of their later inkjets and even their "business class" laser printers seem to have abusive features. I have a multifunction printer/scanner from Canon, and not only can the ink be purchased in separate tanks with reasonable prices, but the features of the printer are quite satisfying.
Maybe now I can play Penumbra without being freaked out by the spiders. That's what I liked about the Thief games; the editor let you delete the definitions for the spider objects.
Yes, being in an open office can be a bit noisy and distracting. This is exactly why I have these jammed in my ears all day. Of course, having a workspace with better isolation (aka an office) would be even better.
