You know, the ones that cannot set up their own DNS resolver, use whatever pre-exploited network modem their ISP gave them to directly control everything in their home (and thus allow the ISP to snoop and data mine too), and solely use the internet through their pre-compromised BigCorp / BigGov approved "smart" leash. Err.... phone.

The mere fact that you run your own DNS server does nothing to prevent your ISP from snooping with deep packet inspection. The benefit of DoH is that the traffic is encrypted.

Submission + - Porsche Macan pulled from the EU market due to cybersecurity regulations (autocar.co.uk)

jay age writes: Porsche will remove the combustion-powered Macan from sale in the EU in spring 2024, as it won't meet new cybersecurity rules.
The Macan has been a hugely important car for them in Europe, with 20,117 examples sold so far in 2023.

Porsche told Autocar: “In the EU, the combustion-powered Macan will not be available indefinitely. The main reason for this is the General Safety Regulation of the European Union, to which the platform will not be converted. Any models that do not meet these requirements will no longer be eligible for new registration in the EU after 1 July 2024.

"In regions outside the EU, the Macan with an internal-combustion engine can remain available for longer.”

The regulations included a separate regulatory framework called UNECE WP.29, which concerns cybersecurity and stipulates that all new cars in the EU must have a cybersecurity certificate and be fitted with electronics to protect them from hackers.

Each car must prove that it's protected against 70 vulnerabilities, including cyber attacks during development, production and post-production.

Manufacturers will face a fine of up to €30,000 (£25,732) per vehicle if they don't comply with the regulation.

How is that fraud? Plenty of people read the articles and enjoyed them. Does it matter what entity wrote them?

From this quote we know you didn't actually look at the articles in question - no human is enjoying them.

To me established brands participating in this AI spam is incredibly short sighted. Perhaps in the next few years they'll get some cheap impressions, but what they're trading is their brand equity from all the readers who start to equate their sites with low quality trash. We're going to be suffering a deluge of low quality trash as SEO'd content farms proliferate; eventually search engines and individuals will look towards known sources at which point image will be incredibly important if their incompetent management chasing a quick buck hasn't burned it all to the ground.

be the first to say Google TV sucks. They've turned it into a crappy aggregator of all streaming services making it a challenge to find anything you might wish to purchase. Further your purchases have been relegated under nested tabs.

The modern Google seems hellbent on destroying all the services. But at least the Product Manager who pushed for these changes will have a nice resume about how they launched a product at Google.

you choose the direction of your company. Its been my theory that unless your business is commoditized your CEO should be a product person. The business may continue to be successful in the near term but over time the company will make product missteps.

Perhaps its reductive but Pichai's background is the management consultancy McKinsey, it shouldn't be surprising that he created a bureaucracy. Similarly Satya is a cloud guy and Windows is being enshitified, Ballmer completely missed smart phones along with most of the Internet.
