Comment Crazy question to the crowd (Score 1) 401

I'm sure someone, somewhere has asked this question: why can they just make the batteries swappable? The time to "refuel" wouldn't be the time spent on adding electricity to the battery, but instead changing the battery in the car. Sure...you'd need some sort of special equipment, and they're probably heavier than hell. But has anyone tried to sort this aspect of the electric car to get these off the ground?

The short answer is, yes. Autism isn't a single classification, but in fact a wider band of classifications that produce similar behaviors and symptoms. Asperger's is on one end of a "autistic spectrum," but those with it are typically high-functioning and integrated into society. Others inflicted with more serious forms of autism aren't so readily integrated, and are oftentimes better cared for in a controlled setting. So "autism," as we typically refer to it in common terms, is really a range of related conditions, and without that next level of understanding of physiological or developmental causes of the condition there can't be much more specificity given.

Submission + - Now Microsoft Wants Its Laptop Back

Rockgod writes: "From the article:
Microsoft and AMD sent out a pile of very expensive (yet trashy looking) laptops to a number of bloggers over the past week. We were told we could keep them — now after a day of minor outrage by some people they are emailing us back with the following request that we not keep them after all! And to think, I almost smashed mine in the middle of the street 10 minutes into trying to use it! I did figure out some of the basics after awhile, but it's still nothing life changing.

Get on the 'Gates for President' Bandwagon 654

netbuzz writes "Dilbert's Scott Adams kicked off the idea in his November 19th blog post, saying there isn't anything wrong with this country that President Bill Gates couldn't cure in less time than it takes to get a new operating system out the door. Today, the idea is moving forward with a brand-new 'Bill Gates for President' Web site. Adams is also back on the campaign trail, flogging the site and Gates' candidacy." A blog post at Network World includes a lot of eye-rolling about this idea, but neither Adams nor the folks at the 'Gates for President' website seem to be taking this lightly.
