A lot of them *don't* work correctly, though. I have a number of apps that I love, but haven't been updated in years and no longer work correctly.

I guess they're going for essentially a large Xmax, small-diameter driver using an innovative magnet/suspension design. My guess is that, like with most high-excursion drivers, you sacrifice quite a bit of fidelity for this. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I really doubt they're breaking any real ground here. Loudspeaker driver technology is both highly limited by physics and very mature.
"We know how that went."
It basically turned into Google. Instead of assembling everything right on a homepage, Google aggregated everything into a well-designed search engine.
That's not too far off from what Plex is doing here. They're integrating the search function to work on your own content and across other services, and it gets pretty clever by knowing that you have, say, Stranger Things on your server. The search returns Stranger Things and shows you your options for watching it.
I thought it would be bad, but it's kind of not.
At no point did anyone at all say anything about "just a webcam."
Dude, you're literally telling a physician who has used these devices that they don't exist.
You have no idea what you're talking about.
It's called photo-plethysmography. It's scientifically validated, devices exist, and there's robust research behind it.
Yeah, you are dead wrong. I'm a doctor that has literally used cameras that are very accurate at determining heart rate.
Beyond that, a "heart rate monitor" is kind of vague, and there are several devices using several technologies that can determine heart rate. A basic pulse oximeter shines a light through the skin to measure oxygenation and heart rate. An ECG measures the electrical activity of the heart to determine (among other things) heart rate. An arterial line measures arterial pressure and heart rate.
There's no technical barrier to using a high def camera to look at the subtle skin color changes, and such devices exist. You can sometimes even see this with the naked eye, as I have done many times.
Come take a tour of the ICU where I've worked periodically over the past two years.
It's been months since one of the intubated COVID patients has been vaccinated.
This is just so inefficient and silly. I don't want some engineer delivering my food. I want someone who does deliveries all the time to deliver my food. An engineer worth $400,000 driving to Chipotle for me? That's absurd and there's no point besides virtue signaling. T
WinDirStat is a handy utility for counting files and looking at disk space allocation. Be sure to run as admin.
Mine says I have just north of 650,000 and 190,000 directories on my Win 10 PC with 2 users.
My linux Plex server has 405,000 files and my TrueNAS file server has about 100,000 (if you exclude the files being served; an extra 250,000 if you don't).
The Citibank thing wasn't just some random money sent to the wrong person.
It was money that Citibank actually owed. They accidentally paid off the entire loan, down to the penny, instead of making the regular scheduled payments.
Big difference.
This is great technology, but the first time it rains, the paint will be dirty enough to completely negate any benefit over traditional white paint.
It would be impossible/impractical to keep clean enough so that the touted benefits are meaningful.
People have been saying that since BTC was $1. Everyone who has followed this advice has regretted it. Horribly.
Some perspective:
A year ago, Bitcoin was under $10,000. The first time it ever hit $30,000 was in January of 2021.
Yes, it rocketed up to $60,000 briefly in April, but it has just slid back to where it was to start the year. It's not like it's in a freefall that has erased years of gains.
The previous 45 Presidents don't seem to have had a problem reaching out without social media.
In no universe is the Cybertruck a competitor to the F-150, the bets-selling vehicle (not just truck) in the US. There is essentially zero overlap in target demographic, and the unfortunate styling of the Tesla makes it an extremely niche product. It could have been huge with appropriate styling. My conspiracy theory about it is that Elon felt empowered to go wacky with it because he knew it would help keep demand low (and thus increase Tesla's chances of meeting said demand).
