Make the users use a form. A very long one. Something like Bugzilla, and lots of questions that need to be filled in. Make the users use it. Every. One. Of. Them. For. Every. Question. They. Ask.

1- It will discourage them and they will fill it only when they can't find an answer elsewhere.
2- You will be able to fill up "statistics" of the most common problems and have them fixed by the ratio of complaints.

Well, at least that's how it seems to work where I work.

Don't forget new procedures with LOTS of screenshots, and the fact that our company's Lotus Notes tends to "make space" by munching the older emails.

Frequent Slashdot contributor Bennett Haselton comments on a breaking news story out of the Canadian courts: "An Ontario Superior Court Justice has ruled that Canadian police can obtain the identities of Internet users without a warrant, writing that there is 'no reasonable expectation of privacy' for a user's online identity, and drawing the analogy that 'One's name and address or the name and address of your spouse are not biographical information one expects would be kept private from the state.' But why in the world is it valid to compare an IP address with a street address in the phone book?" Read on for Bennett's analysis.

Maybe if the whole system could be aided by beta hardware or if some huge companies could help hosting the whole project? I would make a special section for those companies in some "major contributors" section or something. No real money involved, but some of the weight could be taken off.

Openfire was the one I tried really hard to have in our workplace but we got SameTime instead. ugh. But really, go for Openfire. Lots of plugins, lots of flexibility.

As far as I have seen in the logs no one has actually gained access to my system which is good. I would like to know if there is an organization or group or even if I should contact the police to report such things?
