Comment Animals vs Plants, Hhmmmmmm...... (Score 1) 234

What I hate about these types of arguments:

They ignore the fact that grazing animals can produce edible food from land which cannot be used profitably for anything else. Think about all the sheep, goats, and cows living on steep mountainsides.

They ignore the fac that plowing, tilling and fertilising all have an extreme impact on wildlife. AND conveniently ignore the fact that to feed the planet on plants alone would require EVEN MORE LAND to be plowed, tilled, and fertilised.

This kind of idiocy is annoying as fuck. I really wish someone would educate these jerks.

Comment Turnover Rate vs Dead Wood (Score 0) 95

Usually a percentage of the Dead Wood leaves naturally. Either they retire, get sick, or, somehow get another job.

BUT, when you need to downsize quickly, this is what happens. I don't know Google's turnover rate, but, my guess is, based upon their size, it's 5%. If they need to shed another 6% that means they are really looking to get rid of about 10% of their employees.

That's a lot of people.

Indeed!

Every day in the summer I see at least 3 or 4 people sitting in parked cars, idling. The A/C is on, with the windows up,. Yet, outside is comfortable. The only reason they need to run the AC is because they're sitting in the car!

WTF is up with that ?
Are people really that stupid ?

Comment Re:And yet (Score 1) 183

Actually, there are plenty of jobs where skilled workers earn a very respectable living.

Gas Fitter, Electrician, Plumber, Bathroom/Kitchen fitter

These are hands-on jobs, with job satisfaction, AND, you pretty much determine your own hours.
