Comment What has climate to do with it? (Score 4, Insightful) 125

Old building, storage in the basement, water falls mysteriously from the sky. So climate is to blame if I have an old rotten building and put everything in the basement. While we're at it, lets blame gravity which pulls all the water to the basement.

In Africa they would have been happy with some ground water but here it has to be sucked dry lest it damages some dusty books.

If governments really cared about the environment they would install nuclear reactors everywhere. But they don't. Most of them really like to burn fossilized dinosaur while I'm being lectured by a plant-eater.

Lately this wonders through my head: "I have the right to be wrong." If I do not have this right that what truth should be forced upon me? Or, if you can't force it, how will you educate me? And not education as in learning some laws (which all have a good history of how the came into being) but learning to think for yourself. For that I need all sides of the story to form my own opinion.
As for the used car salesman, have they been banned from society or have we learned to recognize these sleazebags and don't take them on their word? As with a virus, you have to come into contact with them to build up your immunity.

I think the Paris agreement is quite complicated. "The People" think it has only something to do with climate so it must be good but as for as I understand it, it is self perpetuation money making scheme to make money of CO2 shares like Wallstreet. What I found weird was that the money the US should chip in was being used to "buy" or persuade smaller countries to sign it as well. Stands to question: If the Paris agreement was so good, then why are countries not signing it freely? Another point, currently the biggest polluter on the planet is China and that country was to expand it's CO2 output. The US would have been forced to decrease it. I wouldn't be surprised China hops out of the agreement when it is forced to decrease it's CO2 output.
Yes, I'm all for defunding the WHO as well if they allow the organization to be used as a propaganda channel for... again... China. I would trust an organization which looks after my health much more if they have the balls to question any country.
Last but not least, education. You are totally correct. People should be thought in school to question any information generated by people, organizations or governments. What a wonderful world that would be. Now realistically, how many meeting will politicians have per year where one of the agenda points is: "How do we teach our children to question our decisions?"

As we learned from COVID-19, lockdown for people with a BMI of 25 or greater. It is for their own good!. You'll get an extra entry in your Vaccine passport with your 6-monthly measured BMI index. If it is above 25 you are not allowed in restaurants, buy high calorie products.

I know this is hard, I know but we have to put a stop to this obesity pandemic which puts a strain on our healthcare system. If this goes uncontrolled we don't have any resources free for normal patients like drug addicts, lung cancer patients and liver cirrhosis. Hmmm.. come to think of it. Do we have more place in the
Health passport"?

I will eat my shoe if you can show me an agenda item of any government called: "How can we give ourselves LESS power."

The parent poster already stated that Facebook, Google and Twitter eroded the "holy" concept of privacy. Nowadays you are suspicious if you DON'T have a Facebook account and apply for a job. Governments are just exploiting the opportunity. Personally I find it quite sad that the "elected" government does not trust its constituents to have thoughts of their own.

And the real terrorists? At max you'll only catch the stupid ones, the rest just switches to another tool or technique.
