Each segment currently carries ten multiplexed 10Gbps connections, but additional wavelengths can be allocated on demand, bumping the potential aggregate bandwidth to 1Tbps or more. The enhanced Internet2 runs on Dynamic Circuit Network (DCN) technology and is being developed in conjunction with Level 3, Ciena and Juniper.
