Comment First Rule: Water Soluble (Score 3, Informative) 95

The two primary rules of e-cig juice...
- everything is water soluble
- everything is food save

Considering how little nicotine it take to make a person violently nauseous, in this context, nicotine is food safe (as long as some toddler doesn't drink the bottle of the juice).

Vitamin E oil AND THC are not water soluble. That is the whole fucking problem.

Yeah, no kidding.

Isn't the problem, here, that Uber isn't actually doing much? Rent-seeking? Something that could be done with an open source, distributed, solution that matches drivers to people needing a ride? I don't know if it would work well if it was distributed to the point that no one has to pay for a server-farm.

Ultimately, Uber just isn't contributing much, but they are trying to make off with a large share of the money involved.

It isn't a hard problem. They are presumably trying different possibilities and keeping track of how much of videos are watched, whether they were watched to the end.

Then I had a cynical thought... ads are at the beginning.... maybe recommending relevant videos interferes with the ad delivery...

Maybe they want you to watch the next ad, start the next video, realize it isn't what you want, then when you find something else, you watch an ad...

Want to keep the ad-time ratio up.

Comment My Lips! (Score 2) 168

Yeah - if your diet is low on calories, the body hoards the fat... most of the fat... Several years ago, there was a period when I was eating less and losing weight. I visibly lost muscle mass in my arms and legs. I did lose some fat - I used to have a fairly large lower lip, but about half the volume disappeared - fortunately it still pretty much looks like a normal lip. I did lose some belly-fat, but the body can be weird, at times.

Comment Using Engergy Makes Heat (Score 2) 291

Do you want global warming? Because this is how you get global warming. You take energy from sunlight that would have missed the planet and aim it at the planet.

This line of reasoning can be applied to almost any source/use of energy.

Burn oil or coal and you get more heat. Make electricity and use it to do anything, like turn a propeller in air, and, eventually, most of the energy ends up as heat. There are also aspects like: solar panels (hopefully) reflect less light than the ground would if it wasn't covered by solar panels.

It can get complicated... hydro-electric... using the energy will make heat, but making it was by using a dam to create potential energy, whereae without a dam, the water runs downhill, gaining kinetic energy, which eventually turns into heat... Ida know.

Some uses of energy don't completely turn into heat eventually, such as hauling some mass uphill and leaving it there as potential energy.

But, basically, any energy we use will result in (minimally) heating the planet.
