He's also advocating for Turbo Boost to be disabled when in Low Power mode, since it's conspicuously absent from the list of things that can be configured to be disabled when on battery power.

Which is one of those not-obvious optimizations, despite what's being discussed here. It's often cheaper in terms of power to run hard for a brief amount of time than to accomplish the same total computation load over a longer period of time. If it was as slam-dunk a win as its being portrayed to be, it might well already be in place. Haters gonna hate, but the people who work on the MacOS battery life problem aren't stupid.

Except that they didn't. Everyone loved to talk about the 17", but nobody was buying it. Do you really think that they wouldn't still be making it if it had been flying off the shelves?

As for the function keys, I personally prefer a keyboard that's centered on the monitor for a laptop, rather than one where 99.9% of my typing is off to the left.

The Watch was something of a game changer. Not because its dramatically easier than the phone, but because it moves the experience from not-quite-good-enough to better-than-the-alternatives. It's faster, easier, and more secure than using a chip at this point, so why wouldn't you use it if you have the option?

The real problem not that secure DNS existis, its that DNS is being handled by the browsers instead of by the OS in these cases. Separate services for separate concerns, guys. We should't have to use tools like dnscrypt-proxy for something that's getting this much traction.

I guess when wireless charging comes to the laptop, you'll go that route, too? Hope you're okay with living with 1/3 charging rate when that comes along.

So long as charging is widely available, and batteries continue to be long-lasting, its likely going to be just fine. If your laptop is always charged when its sitting on your desk, in a conference room, and (at some point) at a coffee shop, the chances that you'd actually benefit from the faster charging available by plugging in would be small.

Referral agreements are commonplace. They could almost all be abused. Arguing that they should spell out in great detail every possible way in which they could be abused (such as paying the phone company to bounce your number through the redirect link, or paying your OS vendor to change the numbers when they see them) isn't realistic. Putting this burden on the referral recipient is why we have so many, many stupid laws - and also why that approach is never enough.
