Comment Not just fakes... (Score 1) 129

I spent a great deal of time trying to locate a recreational pot shop in Imperial county near the CA/AZ border and despite google listing literally dozens of business addresses/phone numbers, almost all of them were defunct. They need a way or a team verifying the continued existence of the businesses. Maybe the owner/operators should have to acknowledge the are still in business every 6 months via email or phone call or risk being purged. After all my searching I am still driving nearly 2 hours to a place where I can walk into a pot shop vs having home delivery. I tried even to get delivery to a public location or even their own parking lot to no avail.

Comment Hmmm (Score 1) 96

I don't and btw wouldn't work for Facebook, just as I made the decision to never again take a contract from a major financial institution, but I do use cryptocurrency to buy pot from recreational shops in California. I don't claim to be an expert or even knowledgeable about the financial markets but I know enough to avoid cryptocurrency as investment. It sure works as an effective means of laundering funds and making anonymous purchases. I wonder how many (m)billions of $$$'s are shifting hands for the drug cartels and other less savory types.

It would seem like the next step will be to require bicyclists to acquire insurance, public liability and property damage just like the drivers of cars are required to carry, at least in the US. I am a motorcycle rider and I really despise much of the bicyclists behavior, they go from sidewalk mixing with pedestrians, to the protected bike lanes to mixing in with auto traffic without regard for anyone else. Bikes need to stay within the bike lanes unless they aren't there and then stay within the auto lanes as they are certainly not pedestrians.

Comment Kroger/Fry's (Score 4, Interesting) 173

The local Fry's food store is covered in signs stating "That you are under video surveillance to provide an improved and enhanced shopping experience." They are so busy forcing people to check and scan their own groceries so they can 'dis-associate' their employees that they can't even locate which aisle has the items I want to buy. It seems like every other week they are relocating items in some strange order determined by an algorithm to maximize how many feet I have to walk and ensure I have to cover every in of the place to buy groceries.

Just place the camera/doorbell facing in such a manner as to allow view of anyone ringing the doorbell but not the street view. I have my house wired but on a private DVR system. I know when the 14 year old gets home and when someone delivers something but the camera does NOT have a street view nor do I provide access to any footage unless I choose to.

Comment Duh (Score 2) 209

Anyone stupid enough to look to social media for medical advice deserves what they get. The losers in this scenario are the poor kids who are exposed to easily preventable diseases and the rest of the public at large who are subject to these retards. Why can't we prosecute them for handing out medical advice for which they are obviously not qualified to give ?

Comment Google maps and Dodge (Score 2) 86

I have a 2016 Dodge Durango. I love the car, and the nav. system works great as well. The maps in the nav. system are Google and the most recent upgrade is for retail purchase and they want 149.00 for the update which is ridiculous and I won't buy it, which means my nav. system will slowly lose usefulness. Granted I will probably trade in the car within 2 years as my warranty expires, but still it shows that Google isn't missing too many opportunities to monetize anything and everything. I used to use Gmail and many of their other services, but as the company went from 'do no evil' to 'make a buck' at any cost lower than a buck I moved over to other providers for everything including a search engine.
