As someone who watches hour long documentaries on Youtube (thanks History Hit), I prefer to front load the ads instead of being interrupted every 5 minutes.

Quite common actually. I'm a PC gamer, and always have a pair of xbox controllers around. My kids use them almost exclusively.

I couldn't disagree more. I was just using it yesterday to capture old VHS tapes. VLC will play my dvds on Windows 10, unlike Windows itself. VLC is still very relevant.

I think you're absolutely right here.

Roku has stayed alive with a good yet simple remote, combined with a cheap price, and being one of the first to have such a device on the market. They also were one of the few that had both the Youtube and Amazon Prime combo, which until the last year or two wasn't available on Chromecast/Fire TV. Apple TV is expensive, FireTV is younger in the market (and is Amazon), and Chromecast didn't have a remote until recently.

Staying alive against such competition is pretty impressive.

I work for a small business that has to navigate the labyrinth of tax laws across the many states that charge sales tax on out of state businesses. We don't have a physical presence in those states, but because we sell over a certain amount (set by the individual states), we have to collect sales tax there. Every state has different limits and different rules, as well as different tools for reporting and getting rates.

Some states offer free rate lookups, but most force you to purchase a package from a third party, costing thousands just to find out how much money you owe to the state. Not an easy deal for a small company.

So forget overseas, it's happening in our own backyard (if you're in the US).

There is more to the story here I think. To better control their populace? probably... but Pakistan has been getting cozy with China ever since the border dispute with India. This might signal a beginning of a change of that policy, since I can't imagine that will make the CCP happy.

Reminds me of the Dirty Jobs episode at the Jelly Belly factory. They made a flavor profile of Mike Rowe's shoes with a Mass Spec, and used it to make a jelly bean flavor. It was quite fascinating, as well as funny.
