It's plausible that they produce too much quality content that is repetitive and Disney accidentally competes with itself. I've worked at tech companies that made multiple similar product lines that rather than capturing more market share just shuffled the the set of customers between different business units.

Sure, if you only compare the movies Disney wants to pick and choose from. But what about Strange World, Lightyear and Little Mermaid**? All recent woke Disney movies that failed in theaters and have no other comparable content for Disney to compete with themselves.

Disney is slowly killing themselves and they only have themselves to blame for it. Give audiences what they want or suffer the consequences.

**Yes, I read that Little Mermaid recently passed Cinderella's $542 million to be the 7th best box office live action disney movie, but Cinderella's budget was only $95 million compared to Little Mermaid's $250+ million. And they were expecting over 1 billion from Little Mermaid and anytime you receive half of what is expected that's not good.

A lot of criminals end up as such because they came from bad backrgounds, bad parenting and bad role models growing up.

That said, I still want to see pedos fed to dogs through a woodchipper.

Sadly it seems like we are going in the opposite direction: instead of rehab and education, cities are moving to catch and release, or don't arrest at all, and punishment for pedos is being reduced. Lawmakers recently blocked a bill to make child sex trafficking a felony, which means they can serve only 4 years for being found guilty of child sex trafficking and California passed a law saying that a 24 year old that has sex with a 14 year old (or any 10 year age gap) is not a sex offender.

I'll agree with you when the punishments stop being so punitive that it's clear they're just there to make puritans feel better

I agree with this. Especially first offenses or accidents. And there needs to be a way for people to leave and work and pay bills so there is a life to return to after punishment is served. Jail becomes a downward spiral for the poor that commit crimes because they're poor and don't know how to correct the situation. They're usually not lazy, they just don't know what else to do to make a living income.

This is beyond stupid. It creates a huge disincentive for people to find out what's causing their sleep issues. If you didn't have accidents before the diagnosis what difference does it make that you have it diagnosed now?

I know diabetics who have had accidents due to low blood sugar. Are they going to suspend the license of over 10% of the US population because they *might* have an accident? And you're right about people not seeking treatment. This is the exact same reason many people that need help with depression or other mental health issues don't seek help, because they could lose the right to purchase a gun.

I have questions. Aquarium heaters require water otherwise they crack, so you're filling the jars with water and putting heaters inside the water? And the heaters have cords, so how are you putting the lid on the jars if the cord is sticking out? Is there a reason you don't want to use a $8 waterproof heat mat?

Yes, the columbine shooters even made a Doom level. And yes, media tried to convince us Doom would be used to train children to be mass murderers. All fake news, much like today but for some reason smart people laughed at fake news then but believe fake news now. And when you prove it's fake, they use circular logic to somehow prove to themselves that only *this* was fake, everything else is true. Like when CNN interviewed their own cameraman pretending to be a protester. So that part of CNN was fake, but everything else *must* be true....

Submission + - Once largest battery of the world catches fire (vic.gov.au)

ffkom writes: The Tesla battery in Moorabool, Australia, which has been the world's largest battery (in terms of capacity) up until recent years, has catched fire.
As David Jones points out in his eevblog video on the event, the blocks of that battery are located surprisingly near to each other, so the first burning block did incinerate at least one more, so far.

Submission + - SPAM: California's biggest state worker union challenges Gavin Newsom's vaccine order

An anonymous reader writes: The head of the largest union in California state government signaled on Wednesday that he intends to fight Gov. Gavin Newsom’s mandate that all state employees either provide proof of vaccination or else wear masks and submit to regular COVID-19 testing.

“Local 1000 Listens to You! Cease & Desist against GAVIN! Finally a REAL LABOR UNION fighting for ALL of its represented employees!” SEIU Local 1000 President Richard Louis Brown wrote on Twitter Wednesday morning.

Brown’s tweet included a copy of a letter his union sent to the California Department of Human Resources, also known as CalHR.

“This letter serves as a demand to meet and confer and as a formal objection to the implementation deadline until the meet and confer process is completed,” the letter reads in part.

CalHR gave state workers until Aug. 2 to verify their vaccination status.

Submission + - SPAM: Pfizer Vaccine Effectiveness Drops To 84 Percent After Six Months, Study Finds

An anonymous reader writes: The effectiveness of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine fell from 96 percent to 84 percent over six months, according to data released on Wednesday. The preprint study funded by the companies determined that the vaccine’s effectiveness reached a high point of 96.2 percent within two months after the second dose. But the efficacy “declined gradually” to 83.7 percent within six months, with an average decrease of about 6 percent every two months. But even with the slip in efficacy, the data indicates the vaccine offers protection six months later.

The ongoing study with more than 44,000 participants across the Americas and Europe determined the vaccine was overall 91.1 percent effective, after 81 cases emerged among the vaccinated and 873 among those who received the placebo. The efficacy of the vaccine against severe disease including hospitalizations remained high, at 97 percent. Researchers will continue to observe participants of the study up to two years and combined with “real-world” data “will determine whether a booster is likely to be beneficial after a longer interval.” If the efficacy continued to decrease at the current rate, it could fall below 50 percent within 18 months, suggesting that booster shots could be needed.
