Comment Re:Compared to flu ... (Score 1) 117

STOP comparing this to the flu! It's totally irresponsible! Mis-information is literally going to kill people because they are too dumb to put a mask on or stay home.

When the flu happens, it doesn't overload our hospitals. The flu also isn't air borne, making it much easier to control. If you catch the flu and are young and healthy and just need IV and a little O2, you there's enough capacity at the hospital for you to get it an live a few years and then catch it again. SARS-CoV-2 is airborne and can aerosolize, living in the air for up to 9 hours after an infected person has been in a particular space. Thus it is spreading much more rapidly and has more than a 45x the death rate according to the WHO (and the WHO only gives us the conservative to prevent panic) We haven't even seen all of this iceberg's tip yet and don't have enough test kits to push it back under. It will get MUCH worse without a drug treament or China like quarantine. What's happening in Italy, hasn't happened with the flu since 1918.

If he's gonna claim credit when the markets are up - seems more than fair to blame this on him.

Besides, given how much he loves to gas-light, it is likely he wanted us to have a shortage of test kits so we can't count the actual number of people dying of SARS-CoV-2 virus because, in his words " I like the numbers being where they are." There are many suspected death in those nursing homes in WA that the CDC is denying tests to.

Nnot having a "pandemic response chain" at the CDC because he cut funding for it certainly doses not help. Also cutting other funds to the CDC pushed them to place all there eggs in one basket (all there tests in 1 kit) rather than co-developing many tests at once and then just choosing the best, and having something to fall back on if there were problems. Mod this up! Plenty of "healthy" doctors dying too. It seems a mask and protective gear isn't enough for this virus as it aerosolizes, goes around your face shield/glasses and into your eyes. If we are in a voluntary-quarantine situation you'll want a full face n99 mask, gloves and disposable outer clothing before heading to Walmart to buy food.

The WHO doesn't get to name viruses, scientists do; it's called "SARS-CoV-2".

COVID-19 is the (stupid) name for the clinical manifestation of it (like HIV vs AIDS) because China has the WHO in it's pocket and doesn't want people to think it's novel and not just a mutant form of the virus that has to do with the filthy living conditions in the country.

Sesame street is garbage these days, I'd be reluctant to let a 4 y/o watch it, just a ton of high pitched puppets running around screaming. Not exactly the behavior I want modeling for a child. I looked into paw patrol - even worse....

On the other hand, giving your child access to things (including video) you are already teaching them with a very high signal to noise ratio should start as soon as you bring them home.

Due to the issue of accidentally placed fingers causing the app to exit, I've resorted to a pen-based etch-a-sketch like device to teach drawing letters, even though I think the apps could potentially do a better job.

I'm a bit extraverted, but still, find other people's noises in an otherwise quite working environment distracting at times (but not always). However what will almost always shut me down is white noise from an air handler or a lab refrigerator - it doesn't matter how rested I am, I either space out or start to nod off when subject to these (in proportion to their volume). I have to keep a pair of noise-isolating headphones on hand to write anything more than 10 lines in such situations.
